Can we move SS out of the ED class? (in General)

DM overpowers it so easily as no one exceeds the 1/8 requirement?

Sorry, but if people think that 200M NW Elbows are OP, can you imagine 200M SS backed armor. I think not.

I think the weakness of DM overpowering SS is a good thing. SS backed armor is a very dangerous thing and it needs that opening to make it balanced well. I think it is good as it is.

No I really dont think you know what SS does. All it does is raise the AC effectiveness back to its former level. so not 80% but back 100% of its FORMER, meaning before SS even got introducted, state!!!!

Noone ever said AC is OP before SS got introduced. Really why did it got introduced and then turned into an ED? give me the reason behind this logic?

No other spell directly affects NW like that.

It was introduced originally, so you couldn't have an Evasion wall. I imagine turning it into an ED was an intentional nerf. As more money enters the game, armor gets more and more powerful compared to weapons.

I think we would need Jon to chime in exactly on his thoughts.

However some people have surmised:

Since AC was getting quite overpowered, that is people reaching over 420 on the old system, something needed to be done to prolong the usefulness of AC and not make it too overpowered. Especially vs the non-USD backed weapons that were seeing over 90% damage reduction at the time.

When Jon introduced ENC that solved a lot--at that time. Freed is the classic example. 450ish AC on a 1M hp wall. He had to DE a lot of his armor to get under his ENC load.

But as the game progressed people caught up via ENC. Especially with 30M NW per million HP on an AC wall.

So then Jon needed to do something. So he dropped the effectiveness of AC by 20%. That hurt all those AC walls quite a lot. But prolonged the usefulness of armor-relatively.

Then to make it possible to get the full use, he introduced SS. However with it as a skill, it was still possible to get into the 500's of AC, which was like 420ish or so via the old method.

So changed it to a ED, which makes it POSSIBLE to get a 500ish AC, but gives tanks a chance to nuke it and not face 90% or more damage reduction.

Mind you, this is only my and others theories. Hatch is the person who thought most of this scenario.

But this is just a theory and it may be 100% incorrect.

However, if this is somewhat correct, I cannot see SS being moved to anything other than the ED it currently is.

Especially with all the NW and cash out there, the possiblity of almost 99+% damage reduction vs physical is almost a reality if SS was non-dispellable.

I see SS instead of Protection, which was an ED spell so the choice is not all that bad.

Yup, SS needs to be an ED so that DM can counter it (at least partially), otherwise it's far too powerful.

What I would like to see however would be the ToE getting a SS aura instead of a minion-only SS.

Right now the ToE is more than effective vs physical damage.

An SS aura it does not need.

Perhaps some GA resistance, but not an SS aura.
