When's the last time you.... (in Off-topic)

Heard a song that you just.... Loved. That just made you happy. But that you had totally forgotten existed until you heard it on the radio, or in a commercial, or heard a friend singing along to from their Ipod.

I'm rather curious, as I've had that very nice exeperience a few times lately.

1) The Strokes - Reptilia
2) Everlast - What it's like
3) Puddle of Mudd - Blurry

Just to name a few. Maybe not the best songs ever or perfection incarnate. But they made me happy!

So share your "Omg, what's the name of that song??! I MUST KNOW" moments!

Oh, Reptilia, that song is love love love!

I like your taste :D

BootyGod September 17 2009 2:18 AM EDT

That was pure luck too. Heard a fragment of half a line sung by my tone deaf coworker. But it just struck a bell and I jumped on it XD Was so happy.

never heard of Reptilia, will have to look that up

The latest song I really like I don't know the name of have to google it... Shinedown's - Second Chance. It's played on the radio all the time, and it has the line, "I saw Halley's Comet, she waved" and it makes me remember the night my Dad took me and my younger brothers to the lake and the sky was completely clear and we were able to see Haley's comet together.

Funny, I've heard that song numerous times this month, but didn't think to look it up until this thread :)

The Strokes first album still gets me like that.

My wife knows when I'm hearing something new that's getting to me, because I look like I'm in a daze, then a slow smile spreads across my face. And I always turn towards the sound.

Aside from the Terminator Salvation theme by NIN this would be the last song I took such noticeable interest in to my memory.

Green Onions Baba O'riley

^From a thread I read today elsewhere about songs that have hard to recognize names, but almost everyone will recognize the actual song.

Green Onions was the 2nd bassline I learnt.

To me, three songs pop into mind.

New Radicals - You Get What You Give
Liquido - Narcotic
Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World

First two are just... I don't know, they just make me feel so good! The third one, well, my parents used to take me, and my brother and sister, on vacation to France. We would spend like 20 hours in a car on our way there, and my mother had these cassette tapes. Everybody Wants To Rule The World was on one of them, and now every time I hear the song it gives me the same feeling of excitement which I used to have right before we went on vacation. Awesome.

Demigod September 17 2009 10:17 AM EDT

Oddly enough, I was rocking out Steve Earle - Copperhead Road on the way to work this morning. I hadn't heard that song in ages.

Young MC - Bust A Move This was one of the first songs to actually get me out of my shell when I was a kid because it was so upbeat!
Digital Underground - Humpty Dance Do I have to say it "Burger King Bathroom!"....lol Yeah this song had a ton of fun times rolled into it. Namely the first time I went to a party and snuck a drink :P
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams So much to remember but more than all of it was the beat, it was entrancing.
Soft Cell - Tainted Love Bad Break up but man was it fun to have this song out and use it, she was soooo devastated when I played this song when she was around. Yay for yesterday's Cassette Revenge Music.....lol
Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting This was to my first real girlfriend when she broke up with her boyfriend, I bought her a copy of this song on cassette and well a week later we were together. We stayed together for 3 years before we both had to move :-/

Janet Jackson - Cat Scratch Fever Janet no more words needed. Back then I was soo in love with her and this crossover song was one of the best she ever made IMHO

There are a ton more songs but these are from back in that day, when everything was new because I was a snot-nosed kid....lol
