Poll: You have to choose. (in General)

Brakke Bres [Ow man] September 22 2009 8:32 AM EDT

Which do you prefer:

TankBlender or
MageBlender

Choose one and (not required) give a motivation why you like your choice.

Please no answers like mixed or balanced. We have here two extremes and I want to find out which of these the CB community prefers the most.

iBananco [Blue Army] September 22 2009 8:34 AM EDT

Mageblender gives absolutely no incentive to be tank, whereas Tankblender would still have mages due to their cost-free nature.

Messbrutal September 22 2009 8:34 AM EDT

Tankblender

QBRanger September 22 2009 8:37 AM EDT

Tankblender.

If you want to play without NW, play a mage.

But if a tank puts NW into his weapons/items either via USD or not, the tank should be more powerful.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 22 2009 8:40 AM EDT

Tankblender.
Where would the fun be if we couldn't club minions to death? :D

Demigod September 22 2009 8:59 AM EDT

Tankblender -- there's just more to get involved with in terms weapons and keeping up with NW

QBJohnnywas September 22 2009 9:09 AM EDT

Tankblender. I've played both and tanks have a level of complexity that I just don't get from mages. Strength, dexterity, what skill to use, and then what weapons and tattoos, melee or ranged focused?

I just enjoy it more.

AdminTal Destra September 22 2009 9:25 AM EDT

Neither - Just look at my strat...

If i would have to choose... Mageblender, only because i love simplicity.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] September 22 2009 9:41 AM EDT

i think the game is much more interesting with the choice to do either or some form of hybrid team therefore i would have too choose balanced. if either is better than the other, then the choice is gone.

besides, tanks already get all of the coolest skills, gear and weapon abilities, letting them win all the time too would be just too much! ; )

Guardian September 22 2009 9:46 AM EDT

tanks for life homie! gimme a good bow i can strike a needle in the haystack

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] September 22 2009 9:48 AM EDT

Tankblender was always more fun for me.

Lord Bob September 22 2009 9:50 AM EDT

Tankblender.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] September 22 2009 12:02 PM EDT

tankblender

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] September 22 2009 12:24 PM EDT

Tankblender. More choice, more diversity.

BluBBen September 22 2009 12:28 PM EDT

tankblender

GnuUzir September 22 2009 12:31 PM EDT

Tanks

Never ran a mage before, almost never trained a DD before...

AdminShade September 22 2009 12:37 PM EDT

At this moment, mage.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 22 2009 1:26 PM EDT

TankBlender - It can range from a Simple 1 Minion - Complex 4 Minion Strat. Multiple Choices for Items & Skills! The Ability to make Mages Cry at the drop of a Corn! Way more fun!

Vicious Cat September 22 2009 2:40 PM EDT

I like Tankblender, However:
The money you need is a real problem.
I started my NCB tank with 25M, and that is nowhere near enough. As soon as I run out of cash to buy BA and keep up with the arms race(quite soon) that's my interest effectively over.
So, now I'll have to wait another 5 months to start all over again.
But at least I have a choice

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 22 2009 3:29 PM EDT

Just this statement;

"But if a tank puts NW into his weapons/items either via USD or not, the tank should be more powerful."

Makes me say Mageblender.

At least Mageblender would be a lot more balanced, and have more involvement of strategy over cashroll.

BTW, what does UC class as? Throw that into Mageblender, and we have a winner all round...

Brakke Bres [Ow man] September 22 2009 6:01 PM EDT

Tank Blender indeed is all NW. But the counters for an all Tank Blender are complicated and interesting.

I also choose Tank Blender, especially now that the exbow is mixing things up.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] September 22 2009 6:07 PM EDT

While I prefer Tank Blender, Mage Blender is what this game should become. That way all the people who pay USD for stuff here can stuff it.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 22 2009 7:55 PM EDT

"While I prefer Tank Blender, Mage Blender is what this game should become. That way all the people who pay USD for stuff here can stuff it."

Pfft I would do the Same for a Mage if I wanted to run one. So whether it was a Tank OR Mage OR whatever inbetween Hybrid Mix I would use USD. You know why? Because I can. Because I CHOOSE to do so. Saying that only Tank runners spend USD is a fallacy of elephantine proportions, anyone AND everyone could possibly use USD the

By the Way this is way off Topic, time to make the connection......

Another Reason I like Tanks.....We Use USD....Experienced Tank user use it to Perfection!

Viva La TankBlender!

Mesoshort September 22 2009 9:26 PM EDT

Tank-a-din? :P

Cube September 22 2009 11:17 PM EDT

Robfender =P

In all seriousness though, tankblender as everyone else has said, it gives incentive to have NW.

Guardian September 22 2009 11:33 PM EDT

keep up, lets tank about it

[P]Mitt September 23 2009 12:40 AM EDT

Mageblender. I don't have the finances to support a tank.

kevlar September 23 2009 2:07 AM EDT

Mageblender

kevlar September 23 2009 2:24 AM EDT

"But if a tank puts NW into his weapons/items either via USD or not, the tank should be more powerful."

I highly disagree with this. For example, if this were true with everything, the Yankees would win every year. And there have been teams with much lower pay rolls that have rolled them in the World Series / Playoffs.

Rawr September 23 2009 2:27 AM EDT

"Robfender =P"

it... is... inevitable...

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] September 23 2009 2:30 AM EDT

Adam+HoD+SC+Tulks+CML+MS+AoAC=Awesome!

Tankblender with a side of decay!

That being said, a mage with NW should always be able to compete with a tank with the same NW. Options for mages are just as important!

Solare September 23 2009 6:09 AM EDT

Mageblender. It has more diversity; Tankblender is just too boring.

QBRanger September 23 2009 6:28 AM EDT

Actually the Yankees do win every year.

Not the World Series as in a 7 game series normal statistical variation would preclude them from winning it every year.

But they have been in the playoffs 14 of the past 15 years.

kevlar September 23 2009 12:40 PM EDT

Normal standard statistical variation/standard deviations aside, they spend the money to win world series, and it is expected by the owners, but they don't. This year they look strong as normal, but will they pull through? Nothing is that automatic, nor should it be.

More money should never mean an automatic win/situation. I will lose a lot of interest if that day ever comes to this game.

QBRanger September 23 2009 12:43 PM EDT

More money is never automatic win.

However, more money should help ones strategy. If we get to a point where more NW does not help, I think many people will be disenchanted by the game.

kevlar September 23 2009 12:58 PM EDT

How is NW not helping currently? /me looks at your fightlist *mind boggling*

I think MPR should have more to do with winning than money into weapons, because it does segregate the game where tanks can increase their damage via real $ and mages can't (only MPR). I absolutely wub playing as a mage, and as of now wouldn't want to play as a tank as of now. But when it boils down to saying NW should "help" I think it already does, a lot.

QBRanger September 23 2009 1:16 PM EDT

So why do you disagree so much with my statement:
"But if a tank puts NW into his weapons/items either via USD or not, the tank should be more powerful."

In addition this is straight from the FAQ of the game:

Q: Mage staffs would be cool to augment magical power!
A: private explained why this is dumb with more patience than I would:

Tanks: Can become more powerful than mages, but cost lots of money to maintain. Mages: Tend to be cheaper than tanks, but also tend to be less powerful (and less able to deal with armor penalties)
I think this provides a nice balance between spending money on your chars and spending exp on them; I see no reason to change it.

So you disagree with Jon's approach to the tanks vs mage with respect to NW situation?

And Jon also stated numerous times that characters are crap.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] September 23 2009 1:31 PM EDT

I love that quote^. I use it often. It makes my idea a lot more sound when it's actually the creator of the games idea.

QBRanger September 23 2009 1:33 PM EDT

I agree Titan.

I thought that was very obvious from the nature of the game and how it is designed.

Mages of course can use NW, I certainly did at one time.

I guess I was wrong on how obvious it was.

kevlar September 23 2009 1:34 PM EDT

I'll admit I have been going on my own opinion mostly, I'll have to look at your last post and digest that. Busy packing for a move *HATES MOVING*

kevlar September 23 2009 1:46 PM EDT

"Tanks: Can become more powerful than mages, but cost lots of money to maintain."

Well this right here goes against all that is the new drop/rewards system (tank wise). So either Jon's opinion has changed (that is an older post) or ...

"Characters are crap" what does that mean. I didn't get what was meant by that.

QBRanger September 23 2009 1:55 PM EDT

I think the drop system was tank/mage neutral. It only hurts tanks more since they need more NW to compete.

The characters are crap was a statement Jon made in reference to the populace moaning about the NUB/NCB a while ago. I am just stating what he typed almost word for word. I think he means that characters are meant to be disposable. I think others may be able to give a more accurate assessment of this.

I personally believe characters are the best part of CB. I like to develop a character to something nice. But once your NCB or NUB is over, that is about it for growth. You stagnate.

It is one of the reasons there is a difference in opinion between those who want the rolling bonus and Jon who does not.

Vicious Cat September 23 2009 3:04 PM EDT

Do we know *why* Jon thinks like this?
I must admit, I would have thought that a constant character would add a lot to the game in terms of loyalty - why does Jon not?

QBJohnnywas September 23 2009 3:08 PM EDT

If we ever make it to Facebook as was planned previously then long term chars and making it difficult for quick play are a no-no. Facebook games on the whole are aimed more at casual gamers. Quick pick up and climb seems to be preferred.
