The free retrain that wasn't.... (in General)

Who else is planning on having a free for all after Jon confirms the backup has taken place and before the new server comes online?!?

I for one will be very upset if there is a "free" retrain.

We can have a free time to experiment, but I for one was not planning on anything special in the time between servers.

It will be sort of a free time Ranger. Can do whatever you want, then it will all be changed back when the new server goes online.

I think what nov means is that once the backup has taken place, nothing will be saved until the new server comes online.

Therefore a free retrain for all.... just one that disappears once the new server comes on.

I'm thinking of trying to DE everything but my ELS (and take it to x30k and +300, retrain my largest minion into a tank and reink to a ToA... then maybe beg SHD to use the big bow

Anyone know what the time frame for that is?

We should all combined cash and make a devistatingly huge something. :)

So we take all the liquid cash we can gather and get SHD to up that bow until even the largest minion with nothing but STR can barely fire it...

I think there won't be a free retrain but rather to try out anything you wanted and test it and then putting it live when the new server is on.

Better make absolutely sure whatever you do is AFTER the backup takes place :) :)

IIRC, last time something like this happened, Jonathan posted again when they "grey time" had begun... But yes, better make VERY sure that time is in play before going nuts! *smile*

Hm, good question... Maybe 2-3 hours? Some other folks probably recall better, as I remember the "sandbox" time being pretty wild. Score ladder went nuts as people were able to try ultra radical things that even the free retrain wouldn't make possible.

Basically, the elapsed time would be whatever time it takes to restore the database on the new server and then swap it out. I'm not sure how all that works with co-location at the service provider...? They must allow a dual-machine configuration, at least for a time, where Jonathan can remotely play with old and new servers at the same time.

I like the uber-item idea. Too bad we still don't have arrows, otherwise we could make an uber bow with uber arrow and see if we could overflow the MPB. *smile*
