Gaming beginning Characters growth (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 27 2010 10:05 AM EST

It doesn't sit well with me. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth (Even as I did it myself with this NCB).

Can we please get a change to the whole system to stop us having this method to maximise growth, and literally forcing us into using it.

Like storing up 1600 BA to save for use during Wacky XP time. Or gimping a charcater (like putting a MGS on a high level Mage) to let a mate farm them for massive rewards.

It's not strategy, it's not fun, it's only an allowed exploit.

But I suppose I'm the only one who feels this way. ;)

QBRanger February 27 2010 10:08 AM EST

Nope. Quite a lot of people agree with you including myself.

But this has specifically been allowed in numerous post by the developers.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] February 27 2010 10:10 AM EST

Maybe it will be something that the CB PC can address and possibly come up with a solution for it.

QBRanger February 27 2010 10:39 AM EST

Sort of reminds me of the old RoE.

One had to use it on a N*B run.

TheHatchetman February 27 2010 4:48 PM EST

I hate gaming the score system, and that it's allowed. But I'll continue to do it in any way that benefits my char, my friends, my grudges, and my curiosity. One day I'll get yelled at and perhaps some trouble for it, I'm sure (I hope), and it'll no longer be allowed. Or one day the system will change to either make it impossible. 'til then, it's open season til ya break something

AdminG Beee February 27 2010 5:00 PM EST

No longer like the idea of storing BA (despite the fact I've also done it with this NCB), and don't like the fact that users can transfer characters either - under any circumstances.

Wraithlin February 27 2010 5:22 PM EST

Suggestions have been made to fix the transferring of characters to use 1600 BA during EXP times.

The smoothest one would probably be not allowing a character to be transferred until 6 hours after the last time they spent BA. Makes it impossible to have more than one account spend BA during EXP times, but doesn't affect people who are legitimately transferring characters at all.

To make a sucessfull run is already very expensive and hard, coz you must also be very active.
So i dont agree with you, i think all things possible you can do to grow fast and do a great run is aceptable.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] February 27 2010 5:26 PM EST

any system that encourages exploitation will deter honest and honorable users. damn! i just realized that many of our systems in the game do this. i guess it isn't that surprising that our population is dwindling. once the fodder who can be taken advantage of leaves, what reason is there to stick around.

a wise man once said that a rolling bonus would encourage laziness. it seems the alternative might just encourage a dwindling population plagued by attrition and lack of achievement. it could also be the beer talking though! ; )

Let me get this straight:

1) a successful run, which probably means top 10% is very hard and expensive and you have to be active.

2) you think #1 is a bad thing

3) you think that exploitation is good because of #1

How about the people who are already in the top 10% that got there through a long difficult climb, spending alot of money and being active that didn't exploit?

The climb to the top is supposed to be difficult, expensive and require an active person. Exploitation is not the key to getting there, dedication is.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] February 27 2010 6:37 PM EST

Nevermind my posts folks I am obviously going nuts right now. The kids are driving me even more insane than I already am :-/

Ok now I know I'm not nuts saying this at least I hope not......

I think it should be both Wraithlin. Strategy, finding something clever and using it while being active a dedicated should be what propels you to the top. Just being he should not mean you are entitled to the Top.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] February 27 2010 6:48 PM EST

It's not like in the current system you can just get to the top using these explorations... How about the people that say it's soooo easy with all of these take over the number one spot... then talk.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] February 27 2010 7:32 PM EST

exploration is what people do with their sexuality, exploitation is...well nevermind then.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 27 2010 7:55 PM EST

Titan, I don;t care if it get's yu to number 2, or you retire after a week.

Just that it exists, and we're all shepherded into using it is what give me the bad taste.

Really, is it some kind of Strategy to save up 1600 BA and hold off playing till XP time?

Or getting a mate to purposely gimp a farm character so you can leech off thier growth?

Hell, I've got a couple of 1M PR charctaers retired. Maybe I should pay the 50K to get them unretired, and gimp them so folk can get an easy ride off them.

It's not like they'll ever be auto retired, is it.

Heh. Maybe I;ll do exactly that.

No it's an economic decision, but I know we have plenty of socialist here. I can tell that from the tourney store. No, no more waiting around for items and playing that part of CB. Everyone gets the same items for the same price! Yay, everyone is equal! Love all around!

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] February 28 2010 12:50 AM EST

Calling me a socialist is about as wrong as you can get :)

I think starting at 100k mpr at character creation would be nice. Early game is so messed up, especially with the current NCB bonus.

QBRanger February 28 2010 12:57 PM EST

As someone else suggested in another thread, if we make character transfers restricted to users with less than 160 BA stored, that would solve most of these problems.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] February 28 2010 7:21 PM EST

It wouldn't solve either of the ones I posted in my OP though.
