can we change the default option on transfers... (in Changelog)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 19 2010 6:42 PM EDT

to loan so that if we forget to do anything it isn't a permanent transfer but rather a short loan?

Wraithlin April 19 2010 7:42 PM EDT

or make it an option what you want as a default.

I do way more transfers than loan so this change would actually be anti-productive for me.

Especially considering there is already an "are you sure" page.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 19 2010 9:47 PM EDT

i am not really looking at it from a convenience for any party standpoint but more of an idiot-proofing one. if you are transferring and you accidentally left it on loan, no permanent damage. if you are loaning though and forget it now it does have permanent consequences. yes everyone should be careful but the if the game can minimize consequences easily then why shouldn't it?

Lord Bob April 19 2010 10:07 PM EDT

I agree with Dude.

Salketer [big bucks] April 19 2010 10:10 PM EDT

It is a small change, but can really be a nice little one. Good thinking

Demigod April 19 2010 10:19 PM EDT

Considering dudemus learned this the hard way, I support it.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 19 2010 10:23 PM EDT

i have had more hard lessons already this year than most of my entire other seven years here. with the market the way it is, i guess it is likely the best timing for my enrollment in the cb school of hard knocks! ; )

BootyGod April 19 2010 10:29 PM EDT

I agree.

AdminNightStrike April 19 2010 11:05 PM EDT

Np

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 19 2010 11:05 PM EDT

; )

AdminNightStrike April 19 2010 11:08 PM EDT

And done

AdminShade April 20 2010 11:14 AM EDT

So this is what is causing people the errors when trying to send money and missing the loan option given by default...

;p

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 20 2010 11:15 AM EDT

muahaha!

Gandalf April 20 2010 2:37 PM EDT

Yeah Shade, me being one of them haha

AdminNightStrike April 20 2010 3:10 PM EDT

Please direct all complaints to dudemus :) :)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 20 2010 3:11 PM EDT

Ha Ha!

PWNED!

;)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 20 2010 3:34 PM EDT

ha! ; )

AdminShade April 24 2010 11:49 AM EDT

Would it be possible to make it select transfer when putting in cash instead of loan?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 24 2010 11:53 AM EDT

i was wondering if the system had any way of differentiating the two as well. so basically if cash only then transfer permanently is selected but if any items then loan is automatically selected.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 24 2010 2:39 PM EDT

What would be really cool, if a user could set it in their preferences.

Mikel [Bring it] April 24 2010 2:54 PM EDT

Just stop transferring/loaning so much!

AdminShade April 24 2010 8:33 PM EDT

it's good for the economy! ;p

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- April 26 2010 4:50 PM EDT

Loaning money is not currently allowed. Please go back and adjust the details of your transfer.

I like this a lot more than 'Bad Xfer'

AdminNightStrike April 26 2010 11:18 PM EDT

"Bad request" :)

{EQ}Viperboy April 28 2010 11:55 PM EDT

so when i transfer money to i need now to each time deselect loan and click on transfer when i wanna transfer money to someone?
cause if yes and i do alot of money transfers, this is annoying cause now i have to select a new box each time and change it from loan to transfer. can we revert back to old one, i mean if you gonna loan something to someone wouldn't you do that more rarely or be more concious of it? i mean if i'm using a transfer feature it should make sense that the transfer option rather than loan is the default.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] April 28 2010 11:58 PM EDT

I point at dude and the opening of this thread.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 29 2010 12:01 AM EDT

from above:

i am not really looking at it from a convenience for any party standpoint but more of an idiot-proofing one. if you are transferring and you accidentally left it on loan, no permanent damage. if you are loaning though and forget it now it does have permanent consequences. yes everyone should be careful but the if the game can minimize consequences easily then why shouldn't it?

with that being said, then i think that if it is at all possible it should be made to where if any amount is added to the money box, it would default to the old way but if no money is added it stays the way it is now.

VsCountStrum [Black Watch] April 29 2010 12:03 AM EDT

Can we for simplicity sake go back to the original and let people easily transfer between each other.

And any other be called a studity tax?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 29 2010 12:08 AM EDT

what exactly is difficult about selecting a radial button? ; )

AdminNightStrike April 29 2010 12:12 AM EDT

with that being said, then i think that if it is at all possible it should be made to where if any amount is added to the money box, it would default to the old way but if no money is added it stays the way it is now.

You could try to convince Fex or Lammy to come up with some JS that would disable the radio buttons and select appropriately when a number is present in the money input box. Then, of course, if you delete the number, the radios should be reenabled.

That's really overkill, though, in terms of UI design. But I won't stop you from asking them :)

Lochnivar April 29 2010 12:13 AM EDT

Yep... gotta get it switched back!

Vets who are silly enough to miss one button while making free loans to encourage new players to stick around totally deserve a hefty idiot tax.

Those of us shipping money around, on the other hand, shouldn't be expected to have click an extra button, completely unreasonable.

If the situation were reversed and the current system was how it had always been, except money that was 'loaned' got disappeared how would we feel about that as an idiot tax?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 29 2010 12:14 AM EDT

i guess it cannot be as simple as an if then statement? if money field is > 0 select transfer, otherwise select loan type of thing.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 29 2010 12:20 AM EDT

It'd also have to update after an amount is entered dude.

AdminNightStrike April 29 2010 12:26 AM EDT

i guess it cannot be as simple as an if then statement? if money field is > 0 select transfer, otherwise select loan type of thing.

Nope.

And look at how that greater than sign is quoted in the quote :)

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 29 2010 12:28 AM EDT

about all that i got out of that today was that regular expression is quite a misnomer! ; )

{EQ}Viperboy April 29 2010 12:45 AM EDT

{EQ}Viperboy April 28 11:55 PM EDT: so when i transfer money to i need now to each time deselect loan and click on transfer when i wanna transfer money to someone? cause if yes and i do alot of money transfers, this is annoying cause now i have to select a new box each time and change it from loan to transfer. can we revert back to old one, i mean if you gonna loan something to someone wouldn't you do that more rarely or be more conscious of it? i mean if i'm using a transfer feature it should make sense that the transfer option rather than loan is the default.

I don't like to complain but since this change has been implemented i thought i'd adjust to it instead its like a ticking bomb in my brain and it annoys me each time, cause each time I'm about to send money I'm like oh wait shoot forgot to check the box, like its an extra thing to select and move the cursor over and really just annoying to do each time that before was done so seamlessly. Whoever suggested it be changed i think didn't have enough support, so because that person did something stupid everyone on CB needs to suffer? seriously that person just needs to learn from his mistakes. Honestly in all the years I've played CB i have never encountered or been annoyed at loaning items to anyone or be bothered by doing it. For several reasons, one is that i rarely loan things away and its not as common as money transfers. secondly when i do, I'm conscious that I'm doing something different, loaning, so i know i have to select something and happy to click that button. But to force every CB users on a feature such as money transfers which we may do several times a day is really preposterous. I would like to VETO this change and i'd like to get a poll going on CB2 and have the PUBLIC decide if we should change it back cause the new system is annoying or leave the change. PLEASE MAKE A POLL THANKS.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 29 2010 12:47 AM EDT

chill pill?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 29 2010 12:48 AM EDT

Wait, I have a better one UMAD?

AdminNightStrike April 29 2010 1:43 PM EDT

Viper - please see an earlier post of mine:

Please direct all complaints to dudemus :) :)

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] April 29 2010 9:43 PM EDT

It is funny how something so simple as clicking permanently gets so much hate....especially considering it could save you a fortune later down the road.

{EQ}Viperboy April 29 2010 10:10 PM EDT

i have never encountered a bad player here that if you make a mistake, most people in this game i must say at least those i dealt with are trustworthy and honorable and if after so many years i did make a mistake and send something permantly to someone by accident i have no doubt that person would send it back especially if i pay for the transfer fees, in fact i'm sure a good number of players would even forego the transfer fees if its not outrageously high.

{EQ}Viperboy April 29 2010 10:12 PM EDT

i rarely if ever make public record posts unless the other person insists. i never had anyone even try to cheat me. am i just lucky or are alot of players getting jipped?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 29 2010 10:19 PM EDT

i understand you are frustrated because of the extra click. i looked at your transfers though and you haven't even made one since the change. in fact since march 1st you only have a few that would have been affected if this were already in place.

just to be clear, you are upset about something that might affect you in the future by causing one extra click even though it may save others losing items through a stupidity tax?

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] April 29 2010 10:44 PM EDT

"i have never encountered a bad player here"

Yes but there is a huge chance you will encounter an afk player.

{EQ}Viperboy April 30 2010 1:02 AM EDT

dudemus, internal transfers are NOT logged. meaning if i transfer money between my characters which I DO OFTEN, it will not show up in the log. I dont understand why what i said is hard to understand for you.

Lochnivar April 30 2010 1:08 AM EDT

I dont understand why what i said is hard to understand for you.

Perhaps because (from what I can glean) you didn't state it was internal transfers that you were doing. Personally to move the mouse from the amount box to the transfer button I have to move right over top of the loan/permanent buttons.

I'm not sure how often people move their funds between chars... personally I almost never do.

{EQ}Viperboy April 30 2010 1:17 AM EDT

i dont understand why we are still debating about this. why cant we just have an admin make a poll and settle this. if majority like this change then we keep it and everyone stops moanin

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 30 2010 11:08 AM EDT

we really aren't debating this as it isn't a debatable matter. we have minor inconvenience on one side of the scale and a stupidity tax / player trap on the other side. it is pretty obvious which one takes precedence.

i can see now why jon wouldn't even respond to complaints much of the time! ; )

QBRanger April 30 2010 11:13 AM EDT

It is a most excellent change!

Demigod April 30 2010 12:05 PM EDT

Not to stir the pot (that really doesn't merit stirring), but most of my transfers are loans to new players. :)

AdminNightStrike April 30 2010 12:37 PM EDT

i dont understand why we are still debating about this.

heh... I'll give you a hint: We're not :)

then we keep it and everyone stops moanin

You do realize that you're the only one, right?

I really am humored by this whole affair, and I'm glad a lot of you are seeing publicly what happens on a much larger scale to me privately with most changes.

{EQ}Viperboy April 30 2010 4:23 PM EDT

You do realize that you're the only one, right?

Actually from me reading this post there there are a number of people who don't seem to like it either... Wraithlin, shade, Gandalf, titan, Natasha, vscountstrum, lochnivar.....and those are just who posted....not to many people who dont tend to post. and only reason i posted is cause it started to bug me exponentially each time...

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 30 2010 4:37 PM EDT

Wait, how did I get put into that pile?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] April 30 2010 4:38 PM EDT

And anyone who knows loch knows he's as fickle as a pickle. (Or just sarcastic)

{EQ}Viperboy April 30 2010 4:47 PM EDT

u suggested against the current change in favor of being able to choose in settings....

{EQ}Viperboy April 30 2010 4:49 PM EDT

What would be really cool, if a user could set it in their preferences.

Which btw i support and think this will make everyone happy. i also think we should move to old system until the new system is implemented.

Lochnivar April 30 2010 4:53 PM EDT

/facepalm

Demigod April 30 2010 4:53 PM EDT

Viper and Ranger -- Read that post once more. Loch likes sarcasm.

{EQ}Viperboy April 30 2010 5:10 PM EDT

seriously i'm not gonna go over and analyze each post and argue with each person about what they wrote. i just jotted down people whose comments stood out to go approve of the change.

{EQ}Viperboy April 30 2010 5:11 PM EDT

correction...."not" approve the change ^^^

winner winner April 30 2010 6:58 PM EDT

I don't like the auto setting as loan much.
