Vote for CB! (in General)
A few months ago this was brought up to NS. A Voting In-Game rewards system that we had back on CB1. A few nights ago NS found these in the Code. For now there is nothing other than sheer Devotion to the game as a reward but hey you never know if or when Rewards would be attached to them again.
For Now just Cast your Votes and Support CB the Greatest Text Based Game Evar!!!

20 votes already.
This should be place on the main page somewhere because as the saying goes "Out of sight out of mind"
Maybe offer a Bonus of 1BA per day for every vote. (not a game changer) but enough to get some motivation.

Placed conveniently enough I don't see rewards as all that necessary?
I of coarse would vote for it without rewards just a suggestion, would work on new players. Vets don't need the incentive cuz they love this game as much as I do!
My vote can be purchased for the small amount of 15 CBD delivered to Blightning.

Done and done, of course no need for a reward for such an awesome game as CB.
Can we vote everyday or it's a one time deal?

Perhaps something like this could go either in the Wiki or, preferably (for me anyway :p), in the Community Links bit. Might need a few more to get it's own page, but hey, at least you *could* track accounts that are clicking the links that way... if there was really a need.

cant vote on the top link =/
I voted..
But what does our vote count towards?
(do the top voted games get more traffic)??
Usually the Games in the Top 10 get seen more and yes as a result they get more traffic so keep voting folks!

Using my work PC (different IP), I voted again. But the top link didn't work for me this time. The passcode showed "error."

Voted.
I've voted like 4 times for each, my IP changes so often at college that their simple IP catch doesn't catch me. I'm going to do number 5 on my gfs computer now.

I can't manually find CB in the first one :/

May 3 2010 8:35 PM EDT
Odd, I couldn't find it, either. But there is an "add a game" feature if this one has expired.
That's weird every single time I click the links I go right to the voting screen for Carnage Blender..........
I was wondering about that myself. I tried to find CB after voting in the top one but couldn't. I think it should be somewhere around rank 33 in there. In the bottom one it is quite easy to find though.

It's an older link, so it's likely expired. Anyone care to create a login to re-up it?
Gimme a minute and I'll give it a go.

Make a new thread with the links simplified pleases....with all of them in the first post
IntoExile: There is nothing wrong with this Thread it can get revamped here if and when I can get it to work :-/
Right now I am getting this:
The url check failed. Please make sure you entered a valid url.
so something is going wrong here, either I'm missing something or the original account is still there and is just in need of an overhaul.

I play CB on three computers (1 at home, 1 in my office, and 1 work laptop), and I'm hitting up all three for the working bottom link.
Unfortunately, the votes for that site reset every week, and we have to be in the top 5 to really get any attention. As it stands, we're #29, and we need a LOT more votes to reach the top.

I ran a traffic estimate of www.topwebgames.com and the estimate is 252,800 hits per month. Then I looked up last week's total votes and counted roughly 51,000. Assuming just four weekly voting periods per month gives us 204,000 hits from votes.
The remaining 48,800 hits could come from uncounted votes (same and similar IPs are ignored beyond 1 vote per day but still count as hits). They could also come from the fact that there are more than 4 weeks per month, and they could also come from walk in traffic thanks to search engines.
But it looks like the vast majority of their traffic comes purely from votes. There's no clue as to how many of the voters bother to click on the other games, but if we can at least breach the top five, we can see if there's an increase in new player posts. We'll need 1300 votes to surpass last week's #5, and we currently have 70 (we need 186 per day).
I still think social net working sites like facebook and myspace would be the simplest way to gather new players..
i think the facebook interface changes so often that it is hard to keep up, especially with the small team cb has!
minethings doesn't really bother with the interface, but can announce findings or accomplishments on facebook. perhaps we should look into something similar that gives us a presence and a way for others to see the name or a link but without the constant interface changes?
I'll be hitting 1000 friends on Facebook before the end of the month. The thing has been growing exponentially without any effort from me. If I had a way to mass-send CB invites, It would be easy to gather a couple new players. Getting some exposure for a link on there is stupidly easy with so many people on my list. Plus, since there is a possibility to separate friends in many groups, I wouldn't even have to annoy my real life acquaintances to promote CB.
Facebook link publishing has worked for me so far with Castle Age, which I began to play specifically because I received an invite so I don't see why it couldn't work with CB. I amassed an army of +-600 members there in less than a month. I also know for a fact that a lot of my fellow players in that game wish for something with deeper gameplay, that can be played in a few minutes every day.
All it takes is a "publish" button.

when I was looking for new web games I used to check voting sites (
http://www.mpogd.com/gotm/top100.asp) and forums (
http://www.onrpg.com/boards/browser-games).
Nowadays I just check news/updates/articles on relevant sites that are focus on web games (Onrpg.com is still relevant, bbgsite.com, playbbg.com, ..).
Anyone playing dragon call?
They use media to advertise their big events to attract a lot of players.
For example a good starters kit event would attract a lot of new players to check out carnageblender.
An awesome events in the spotlights of those media sites might attract just as much (or more) players as a top 5 position in the voting sites.
We should do both. Let them know that CB is an excellent game with a fantastic event that is about to start.

I don't use social networking sites, so I really can't add to it, but I love Lezard's (stop changing your name!) idea. But what exactly would be output to the sites? "Demi spanked Titan" seems both creepy and pointless. We could output notices of "Player hit 1 million MPR," but I'd rather see it get tied in with proper milestones.
In the AvertiZement Contest I help Salketer had an Awesome all around idea that would be prime for this kind of thing.

For those who don't use Facebook, here are two examples of what Castle Age inputs on it's players' profiles.
(Not all FB games use the same template for profile publishing, but they all look similar, and require the player's approval to be sent. Usually. Spam is then easy to prevent for someone who doesn't want to annoy non-gamers or relatives etc...This is crucial, because while legit invites can lead to good times, spam is simply insulting.)
Also notice the difference between the two, because it's important. The first invite is milestone based while the other is action based.
One is a promise of epicness, and one appeals to your subconscious desire to out-perform the peer sending the invite. Both have different targets, and combined they can bring you the gamers as well as the grandmothers. (My army is full of old people, you guys! Seriously, it's quite surprising.)
PS: A youtube vid, even primitive, would also be very easy to push on FB.

The idea of a vid has been mentioned previously, but I just don't see the lure of a text-game video. :)
I agree that it might not be very appealing visually, but I'm thinking that instead of going the hollywood way (like a trailer), someone could cook up another flash tutorial. Explain the basics using still imagery. Do we have that already? I can't recall.
Besides, Farmville has a trailer so I think any game can :)

carnageblender has had banners on myspace and facebook for quite some time ... i have put them in a few times. As soon as you throw your referral link in it pops up and asks if you want to use the banner or not!!!
Wait put the referral link where?
If you put a CB ref link as your "status", FB recognizes this and proposes to also attach a CB thumbnail + a short description of the game. I'm not sure the link retains it's "ref" properties once it is published since the URL simply reads www.carnageblender.com then.
I have no idea if it's just taking that info from the CB group or if someone actually has made it so it's displayed.
Looks like this (This is my ref link, changed automatically by FB):
43 Carnage Blender 103
Gotta get moah!
