At Least He Wins In Persistance! (in General)

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] December 4 2010 1:40 AM EST

Gunfer

Pwned December 4 2010 1:42 AM EST

Wow thats just ridiculous.... 300 battles just enough to get cbd for referrer

DoS December 4 2010 1:47 AM EST

*shrug* I don't know the guy.

Demigod December 4 2010 1:47 AM EST

Randomly fighting some large characters. Me thinks it was a friend of the referrer burning BA like he was told to.

Demigod December 4 2010 1:48 AM EST

ninja'd

Xenogard [Chaotic Serenity] December 4 2010 1:51 AM EST

I saw him when he hit me. I'm actually surprised to even see two wins haha.

IMHO It should be 300 wins, not 300 battles fought lol.

Pwned December 4 2010 1:55 AM EST

This is just messed up IMHO. I put up real adds about the game.

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] December 4 2010 2:10 AM EST

Guys, guys come onnnn he succeeded in winning 2! We should all be very proud of him :D.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 4 2010 9:39 AM EST

Did anyone bother to cm the guy and try and help?

QBOddBird December 4 2010 9:51 AM EST

At least if he comes back by, he'll be pleased to see a thread mocking him

welcome to CB

Sickone December 4 2010 9:57 AM EST

if he comes back
Extremely doubtful.

QBOddBird December 4 2010 10:02 AM EST

Optimistic!

He only signed up yesterday, guys. He could certainly come back. Nobody else thinks that it's a little too soon to decide his CB career is over if he's gone for 12 hours?

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] December 4 2010 10:30 AM EST

He only signed up yesterday, guys. He could certainly come back. Nobody else thinks that it's a little too soon to decide his CB career is over if he's gone for 12 hours?

lol, that's funny. It's pretty obvious the one who referred him is just out to make a quick buck. At the very least I hope your making an attempt to talk with your referrals?

The goal here is to attract more users not increase the weight of your wallet.

QBOddBird December 4 2010 11:41 AM EST

Kefeck, I haven't even referred anyone. I'm a little amused at your belittlement of me simply for defending the point that the guy has been here less than 24 hours. Already because he ended on 300 battles yesterday the assumption is being made that he was a 'referral tool' and that he'll never be back, and a thread mocking the user was made.

The fact is, even referring someone to come try the game for 300 battles is a good thing. It means they'll have to come play the game a little bit, and they could end up liking it and sticking with it. Anything to get people to try the game is a good thing in my mind.

That being said, if I popped in one day, fought my 300 battles and then decided to come back the next day and saw a thread like this, I'd write you all off as a bunch of jerks and wouldn't come back.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 4 2010 11:51 AM EST

While true OB, on the other hand, gaming the referal system is already a hotly debated, and reviled, situation.

Just check out the numerous threads surround the increase to referral rewards when NS boosted them.

If this is a game of the system, you can't really fault the thread, can you?

Pwned December 4 2010 11:52 AM EST

Well if you guys don't think its wrong then I'm gonna start doing the same thing. Instead of making colorful adds about the game and having people join who are genuinely interested, I'm gonna get people to just hit 300 battles for a reward.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 4 2010 11:52 AM EST

Check the character. Nothing's trained.

And while it could be someone new to the game who joined to take part, you really can't get away with fighting 300 battle and *not* training anything.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 4 2010 11:54 AM EST

perhaps, in the future or now if possible, any other contests should involve the open revelation of links or ads placed? that might keep people from doing things such as, "sign on and fight 300 fights and i will give you 50 virtual bucks in another game" or some similar situations from arising.

i am not accusing anyone of any activity, but do see a way that these type of contests could be abused without some form of community transparency and thus tarnished when the creator had very good intentions.

lostling December 4 2010 11:55 AM EST

i dont see why this is a big issue at all... if the person is drawn here by these means i say let them continue... perhaps some of them will even stay (when the tutorial gets fixed)

Pwned December 4 2010 11:55 AM EST

This is the case Dude

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 4 2010 11:58 AM EST

I would imagine that would be up to the contest holder to decide.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] December 4 2010 12:05 PM EST

that is why i offered it as only a suggestion. it really is up to the contest holder in regards to what is allowed.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 4 2010 12:14 PM EST

^-----Soo true not to mention that remember this IS a niche game. A lot of the time we are lucky anyone gets up to 300 fights at all even with a contest in the mix.

Bottomline keep reality in check:

1) Its a passerby to a game that they might not like it even though you love it.

2) Just because you love it doesn't mean they have to respect our unseen rules.

3) Even if someone pays someone else "Virtual Cash" to do it at least they are freaking trying(regardless of the intent)

4) Sometimes getting a person to try a game, even with incentive, is what hooks them. Which is what we need right?

5) The objective is to get ppl to try the game it in NO WAY stipulates they must stay and like the game because you want them to.

So honestly wait for a bit BEFORE you start throwing accusations even if later they turn out to be right (in your mind). Realiity sucks but it is there for a reason and that is to remind us that this is a GAME.

Eliteofdelete [Battle Royale] December 4 2010 1:24 PM EST

When I created this thread, I was amazed that someone could win against 3k mpr with just a whip and 20 hp. My first reaction was he was clicking fight instead of inspect in the tutorial. I wanted to help clarify that fight and inspect were different and that he should try fighting down. But now that people have pointed out he just clicked fight 300 times for the bonus or whatever, I see he had no intention in even trying the game. Personally, I think winning 25-50 battles and training is infinitely times better than just fighting 300 battles.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 4 2010 1:38 PM EST

EoD: Trust me I know where you are coming from however I now within the first 5 Minutes if I like/dislike a game. Fulfilling a quota of 300 is still better than not even getting past 30. Yes the result is the same but there is something inbetween.......time. The more time we have the better the chance to get them to stay.

We ALL know that getting people into this game is not going to be easy otherwise we wouldn't have a need for contest to recruit NPs.Yes it is a bit disheartening to see people just come and go it's a price to pay in any game especially in a nich game like ours. So be glad they even came by and hopefully we can snag a few in the process.

That's what this is all about in the end right, an attempt in getting people to come and stay? Well realstically even if only one person stays that contes is a success no need to put elevated expectations on it. Ie Shoot for the Stars and be happy if we only hit the Moon.

Demigod December 4 2010 1:43 PM EST

Guys, look at the list of targets. It appears he didn't search out names but rather clicked on them in the fight feed. If anything, we should make sure no other new players make that same mistake. While we all know how to play, it may not be obvious to a walk-in. That proper fight button doesn't stand out from the rest of the links. I wish we could box it or otherwise give it a different appearance.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] December 4 2010 3:01 PM EST

Just check out the numerous threads surround the increase to referral rewards when NS boosted them.

I created a number of the GL, referral rewards are insanely high. But, and I say this with a heavy burden, it must be done.

"sign on and fight 300 fights and i will give you 50 virtual bucks in another game" or some similar situations from arising.

I'm all for this. By doing this you're introducing people to the game who would have otherwise not found it. Also, there is a slim chance that during their brief time here, they might actually check the game out. Even if one person stays it would be worth it.

So, in the future, while it was funny to point this out, I hope we don't jump to conclusions so soon. Even though it is likely Gunfer won't come back, I'm sure this wouldn't be the wb he had anticipated if he did.

DoS December 4 2010 3:15 PM EST

Well if you guys don't think its wrong then I'm gonna start doing the same thing. Instead of making colorful adds about the game and having people join who are genuinely interested, I'm gonna get people to just hit 300 battles for a reward.
You are just out to get me. Sure, anyone can Google my referral link and see what I am doing, but can you also Google the goo.gl link that I created from my referral link as well? Probably not.

A few days ago I posted a goo.gl link on a website where you pay people to do various tasks. I said that I would pay them to sign up as my referral, finish the tutorial, and fight 300 battles and they would get paid a certain amount for that. Unfortunately for Gunfer, he did not complete the tutorial LOL.

By doing this you're introducing people to the game who would have otherwise not found it. Also, there is a slim chance that during their brief time here, they might actually check the game out. Even if one person stays it would be worth it.
This is my intention.

AdminNightStrike December 4 2010 3:29 PM EST

Z, I'd settle for hitting the top of a tree :)

See the CL post.

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] December 4 2010 5:28 PM EST

I noticed this guy attacked me twice as well. Seeing this just seems like a terrible waste. People conjecture and guess he came for the referral rewards, and that is possible. But the fact that we had a potential new player go to the trouble of signing up, setting up a team, and leave after losing 300 times in a row is atrocious (no matter their reason for being here).

The site needs cleaning up. I had the same thought as Demi- this guy saw the people fighting in the fight feed and went after them. I really feel the fight feed needs to be turned off or just show mock battles of characters at the same PR for the new player. As of now, it just introduces 16 links to fights they'll never win.

The current layout works great for those of us that know what we're doing. However, the people that do not are the ones it should be aimed towards. The left frame alone has 71 clickable links and rollovers. None are emphasized or brought to the front. We have too many ingredients in the new player soup.

Demigod December 4 2010 5:43 PM EST

For what it's worth, I'd like to see the "Fight" button moved to the right of the list box and made bold.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 4 2010 5:58 PM EST

If it was someone just coming in for the referal, then it's not a problem with the site, and no need for concern about redesigns.

If he was a genuine new player, and for some reason;

Didn't follow the Tutorial
Didn't ask in Chat/Forums for help
Was led astray by the fight feed

Then maybe that's a site issue.

Maybe it's still a user issue...

I think it's a little hasty to blame CB mechanics or layout, especially when certain fundamental game aspects were completely ignored.

Yes, we could all be jumping to conclusions here, on either side of the fence. But like multi hunting, when it walks and sounds like a duck...

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] December 4 2010 6:03 PM EST

I've always been entirely for making the fight feed optional.

Pwned December 4 2010 9:02 PM EST

As long as everyone is ok with this kind if behavior. Don't cry about it later when someone you don't like does it. Why change the rewards either?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] December 4 2010 9:13 PM EST

GL, DoS told you what he did. Which I'm perfectly fine with, it introduce people to the game who likely wouldn't have come here without that type of ad. Will any of them stay? I don't know, but this at least gives us a chance. I'm running the contest, as for the 300 battles thing Nightstrike already changed. For whoever has the most active new users at the end of January I will also be the person determining what "active" means, and I assure you it won't be people who play for a few hundred battles on the last day of January. Exile, if you wish to do something like this, I'm all for it, just do it in a place where you see it as really giving you one of the best turnouts, which DoS's has done pretty well at. As has his other ad.
