end of reverting:Scrap Yard and Tattoo Artist... (in Changelog)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 7 2011 2:00 PM EDT

I'm why you can't have nice things...

Quyen August 7 2011 2:01 PM EDT

50 CB.. In what? :D

QBRanger August 7 2011 2:01 PM EDT

Care to explain this changeling?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 7 2011 2:04 PM EDT

Folks who've recently ink'ed a tat or used the scrap yard will catch on quickly

QBRanger August 7 2011 2:05 PM EDT

How about not being cryptic and just explain the thing?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 7 2011 2:06 PM EDT

since NS made the change, you get a NS style changelog...

QBRanger August 7 2011 2:10 PM EDT

Yet another reason to get frustrated with CB.

When I like to go back and check old changelogs, it is things like this that makes me want to scream.

Anyone who has inside information about this care to explain to us non-admins what this change is about? Us prasents would like to know.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 7 2011 2:11 PM EDT

Try to revert an SY change.

King August 7 2011 2:12 PM EDT

Reverting your tattoo is apparently not possible anymore and it just keeps the log at the bottom of the page to taunt you (Or it costs more cbd than I currently have)

QBRanger August 7 2011 2:13 PM EDT

Must have just happened as I used a ToA this am and converted back to an IF without problem.

So now it costs money?

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 7 2011 2:14 PM EDT

it was brought about by this:

http://www.carnageblender.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=00328a

and a recent similar, but more costly instance with another user.

after some discussion on the admin forums, it was decided to kill off the ability to revert items. part of the reasoning was that base items are so plentiful and inexpensive that this was the best solution.

King August 7 2011 2:14 PM EDT

Or you know, I could actually read the page.

The fee is a tattoo of the new type, which will be kept by the Tattoo Artist after the transformation. You will not be able to undo this change without supplying a new base item of the original type.

In short, no more free reverts and no point in even keeping the revert text/box.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 7 2011 2:14 PM EDT

reverting was more problematic than useful, base items are plentiful

Sorry Ranger, having fun isn't your thing I get it.

QBRanger August 7 2011 2:20 PM EDT

I can easily have fun.

But in 6 months when one tries to find this post, titles like this make it difficult.

When I was away for a year, trying to catchup on changelogs was quite frustrating.

Instead of a simple title as to what was done, one gets useless "fun" titles that have nothing to do with things. Making it harder to catchup with past events.

I always thought easy was best. Guess I was wrong. Complicated and nebulous are best.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 7 2011 2:28 PM EDT

i can change the title later to a more descriptive one, as of now it does help describe the magnitude of the more costly occurrence i referred to.

QBRanger August 7 2011 2:35 PM EDT

So I take it novice last 50 million NW when he changed his exow to an ELB?

I have changed my old ELB many times without loss of nw.

Quyen August 7 2011 2:36 PM EDT

:| thats expensive..

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] August 7 2011 3:27 PM EDT

I think the problem was this.

If you have an item, change it, and don't upgrade it, it reverts just fine.

If you have an item, change it, upgrade it, then change it with a new base, it works just fine.

If you have an item, change it, upgrade it, then revert it back to the original, you lose the upgrade.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 7 2011 3:46 PM EDT

bingo, and there were big warning signs to that effect on the page as well... didn't stop me

I switched to an SoD, took the 50M I'd been holding for I don't know how long and upgraded the x on it. I then went away for a long weekend and came back to a hampered fightlist because of the SoD. I reverted without so much as a flicker of a clue what I was about to do.

Small price to pay for what should be a good fix.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] August 7 2011 4:00 PM EDT

Hopefully, like the old thread, you'll be reimbursed the money.

IPoop August 7 2011 4:01 PM EDT

thats a pants way to lose 50 million

TheArtistHaze
(There Can Only Be One) 86.182.91.105 AdminQBnovice (Construct) $500000 -- for sod fiasco 3:59 PM EDT
-its more a thought that anything as that wont really make a dent on that total

IPoop August 7 2011 4:03 PM EDT

haha can i add a clause that i want that back if GL is right and you get a full refund

I really don't need reimbursement... it was a real mistake on my part and I'm fine with that.

Mikel [Bring it] August 7 2011 7:09 PM EDT

Would've been nice to have a warning.

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] August 7 2011 7:31 PM EDT

Would've been nice to have a warning.

Agreed

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 7 2011 7:40 PM EDT

i apologize for the lack of warning but since all cb devs are part-time (probably a better description is hobbyists as part-time implies some form of payment) we pretty much have to take dev time as it comes. ns had time to do this today and would be around a bit to correct any issues that happened to pop up.

QBRanger August 12 2011 4:56 PM EDT

Personally would like to see novice reimbursed for this mix up.

With all the changes from years past, this could have happened to anyone of us, albiet on a smaller scale.

As an aside, can we get a more appropriate changelog name so in the future we can easily refer to this.

Warchild August 12 2011 5:32 PM EDT

Ranger read the rest of the posts..nov has been reimbursed now..thanks to IPoop (ie The ArtistHaze)

~WC~

Warchild August 12 2011 5:32 PM EDT

errr well 1/10th anyway

~WC~

Demigod August 12 2011 6:34 PM EDT

Psst. He sent the funds back.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] August 12 2011 7:11 PM EDT

NS, any chance Nov could get his 50M back?

AdminNightStrike August 12 2011 8:06 PM EDT

Took it from Mr Chairman. Apparently, the blacksmith is broke.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 12 2011 9:17 PM EDT

: )

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 12 2011 9:20 PM EDT

*sigh* pays to be stupid...

Phoenix [The Forgehood] August 12 2011 9:41 PM EDT

Took it from Mr Chairman. Apparently, the blacksmith is broke.

After all the CBD I pay him through forging?

AdminNightStrike August 12 2011 9:47 PM EDT

I think there's some fundamental bugs in how CB moves money around.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 12 2011 9:48 PM EDT

thanks everyone

QBRanger August 12 2011 9:50 PM EDT

YW,

It was the right thing to do.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] August 12 2011 9:53 PM EDT

And here I sent a nice long heart felt chatmail to Jon pleading him to help nov out, and all I had to do was ask NS... oh well. Glad you got your money back nov.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] August 12 2011 10:06 PM EDT

i think the whole of cb is the main winner on this, we get another item sink and hopefully have gotten rid of a papercut for new users that likely would have resulted in frustration at least and loss of players as the worst case scenario.

if anyone is in need of a base item for reverting, please vote in the black market! ; )

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] August 13 2011 9:55 AM EDT

Awesome result!

/hugs

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 13 2011 11:26 AM EDT

Sweet! Glad things have worked out for the better :-)
