Leaving @ the end of the month (in General)

TH3 C0113CT0R November 18 2011 9:55 AM EST

Well, come the end of the month I have to move. I didn't expect to have to, and when I do, I won't have the money to get my internet installed... So, I'll be without internet for at least a month.

Guess that jacks my NCB, I also have to sell my tattoo to try and pay off debts before I leave. Anyway, Just wanted to say bye to everyone incase the time without internet is longer then expected.

:(

TH3 C0113CT0R November 18 2011 10:00 AM EST

But I will be back!!! promise! lol

Quyen November 18 2011 10:08 AM EST

Goodbye for now.. in that month i will get to your level >:D

TH3 C0113CT0R November 18 2011 10:11 AM EST

yea, Im thinking since this ncb is going to be jacked... when I come back the stuff on him, will go into rentals, and I'll start a new ncb to build up some of the other gear I have.

QBRanger November 18 2011 10:27 AM EST

It is reasons such as these for which the Rolling Bonus would be perfect.

Now a long term player has to give up on months of a NCB and restart essentially from scratch on a new NCB, or buy a higher MPR character without any bonus.

Any wonder why long term loyal people in CB get discouraged and leave?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 18 2011 11:13 AM EST

Because of people who do nothing but complain?

But seriously... the NCB isn't to blame for this kind of stuff, they're always another one available when you come back. Buying characters is actually the cheapest and best solution for those who want to play in the top tier, you and I both know that quite well.

QBRanger November 18 2011 12:23 PM EST

Because of people who do nothing but complain?

No, because of people that want to make this game better. I hope you of all people would understand this. All criticism is not complaint.

But seriously... the NCB isn't to blame for this kind of stuff, they're always another one available when you come back

Of course there is. However, all the progress, including all the BA you bought at such a high price (since we have to be fair to NWO), is lost. So one can restart the whole 6 month process all over again.

Buying characters is actually the cheapest and best solution for those who want to play in the top tier, you and I both know that quite well.

Some people want to build their own character. As they like the xp distribution to be or just for the sake of doing it themselves. But I guess the current system discourages that unless you have 6 months of uninterrupted play.

But do you think the OP would be more or less likely to actually return and fight well with the current system or a system that actually gives him some incentive to play on older character that he already has time and money invested?

QBOddBird November 18 2011 12:39 PM EST

Because of people who do nothing but complain?

hurr hurr novice is clever

It's the fact that he's got to abandon a character yet again
anytime you leave, if you want to be competitive, you're going to have to abandon what progress you've made and start fresh
Some people have really cool old characters that they'd like to keep playing with

QBRanger November 18 2011 12:45 PM EST

When OB and myself strongly agree on something, perhaps that line of thought may just possibly could be the correct one?

Lord Bob November 18 2011 1:06 PM EST

the NCB isn't to blame for this kind of stuff,
Yes it is. When I leave in the upcoming month or so, it will be in part because I am tired of waiting for a N*B replacement.

And Odd Bird was spot on.

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 18 2011 1:17 PM EST

Nooooooooooooooooooo!

Unappreciated Misnomer November 18 2011 1:52 PM EST

My question is why come back to your account, Id figure most of the Nubs who are dong well are in reality Vets. I wouldnt care if you wanted to quit to take advantage of a Nub bonus and all the perks, its what a Vet like myself would want if I left. The down side to a new account is the lost bragging rights to a cb-t, but you can make it to the 6/20 as a joke, not a big loss. But my point doesnt address the dreaded 6month demand to get there.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 18 2011 4:37 PM EST

Bob... I think you'd be the one choosing to leave, the NCB may be one of your reasons but it's hard to blame in the way people frame it.

There are so many factors at play the demonizing one aspect and continuing to harp on it distracts from the work going on to try and help. The NCB works, maybe not how you'd like it to but it offers people a chance to do what they'd otherwise have to work much harder to accomplish. The vanity of keeping the same character (as huge as that is for some of us, myself included) isn't comparable to dealing with making CB continue to be a viable long term game. Maybe at some point one of the bonus suggestions will be implemented, there are certainly some I really like that don't have the issues of the rolling bonus.

For now it'd be nice to hear what you all think could be done to help with what we've got rather than bashing a system that is at the very least functional.

Quyen November 18 2011 4:41 PM EST

in reality Vets.
what is a vet?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 18 2011 4:41 PM EST

and I almost forgot... Sorry to see you have to take a break L3G0, come home soon, and I'm also sorry for responding to a rude off topic post in your thread

TH3 C0113CT0R November 18 2011 4:48 PM EST

its all good novice, I do agree that say that I would love the idea of a rolling bonus at this point as when I come back I can still make up ground on my current character instead of starting a new ncb.

Although, Im not saying starting a ncb would be to bad of an idea for me, as it would give me a chance to build up some other items i need for a future strat/build, tattoo for money, etc.

But a rolling bonus would atleast give me that option, as the game sits I really only have 1 start a new ncb.

Lord Bob November 18 2011 5:01 PM EST

Bob... I think you'd be the one choosing to leave, the NCB may be one of your reasons but it's hard to blame in the way people frame it.
What? Your reasoning is baffling. I am leaving in part due to the N*B. I am blaming the N*B for the problems in this game causing me to quit. Are you saying I should be blaming the developers instead because the N*B is an inanimate concept? Where are you going with this?

For now it'd be nice to hear what you all think could be done to help with what we've got rather than bashing a system that is at the very least functional.
Oh please. I have offered my suggestions ad nauseum on countless threads. The time for that is over. If you want to read my many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many posts on what can be done to help, you know where to find a list of my posts.

I'm going to hit my final goal of 6/20 and quit, because I know there is nothing further to accomplish here after that with this team. The continued existence of the N*B plays a significant role in this, and in my decision to leave.

Lord Bob November 18 2011 5:04 PM EST

Anyway, it looks like Nov and I are hijacking L3G0's thread. That wasn't my intention, so I'm done here. In closing, I have stated my reasons for wanting to quit, and if you don't like it, tough. They are my reasons, not yours.

Good luck L3G0. I'll be following you out the door shortly.

QBRanger November 18 2011 5:47 PM EST

Novice,

Your other points are almost laughable but I will concentrate on this:

The vanity of keeping the same character (as huge as that is for some of us, myself included) isn't comparable to dealing with making CB continue to be a viable long term game.

What will make CB a viable long term game? That is what we have tried many times as a community to address. The NCB is borked. We get 1 character every 6-12 months making it to the top ranks. Right now someone is using an obviously very broken item to fight as high as possible to make his run.

We have stated numerous times that the NCB is a huge reason people leave. They do not have the money to make a run at the top since we had to be fair to NWO. They do not have 6 months of uninterrupted play to make a run at the top. People, contrary to reports, do like their older characters. Ones they put a lot of prior time and money into.

And this gem:

For now it'd be nice to hear what you all think could be done to help with what we've got rather than bashing a system that is at the very least functional.

Have you been reading the forums the past 5 years? There have been countless suggestions and threads with respect to making the game better. Very few get enacted.

The NUB/NCB is a huge problem with players. One of the major problems in keeping people and people leaving. Fixing it will go a long way to player retention.

I understand you are a cheerleader for CB now. However, it would be very prudent to actually read and understand what the common people (non-admins) of CB feel about the game and how they think it can me made better.

Best not get into the fact that no real changes of game play consequence have been enacted in years. No new item introduced in years and no changemonth for years.

QBOddBird November 18 2011 5:51 PM EST

I'm also sorry for responding to a rude off topic post in your thread

Wow. Ranger points out that the reasons driving him to leave could be fixed by applying a rolling bonus, and you call him rude?

And you didn't even bother changing your user image to the trollface first?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 18 2011 6:03 PM EST

absolutley, almost as rude as me replying to him without even so much as acknowledging the threads intent...

opportunistic grandstanding in goodbye threads is weak

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] November 18 2011 6:04 PM EST

Alright guys, that's enough, all other posts in this thread should be farewells and hopeful returns for Lego. All other posts will be deleted. If you want to discuss another topic, start a new thread.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] November 18 2011 6:05 PM EST

Oh and thought I already did this, but sad to see you go Lego :'( Return soon! Good luck with the move and everything, I know what you're going through, I'm moving as I type.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] November 19 2011 11:27 AM EST

L3GO: Cya ya bro and I hope you return quickly.

Ranger: We all know the reasons/problems and suggestions/possible solutions already so really there is no need to expound upon them.

Nov: It is what it is and the reasonings are posted in many many many threads. Functional does not mean good or even liked. Per instance such as in L3GO's case wouldn't a Vacation Mode or N*B pause button make ppl be less prone to say screw CB I'm outta here?

LB: Your reasons are yours and I respect that. I have seen many realistic and good alternative N*B choices in your many many many threads. However I do have to say a good suggestion doesn't always mean it is the right one. I'll be sad to see you go bro.

OB: I agree it would be very cool to revamp and keep older chars competitive and in the game. Nat and I discussed a system a while back that would do just that OCB (Old Char Bonus) :-)

Titan: Understood but discussion does happen.

Just my opinion on things folks.

Once again L3GO I wish you luck and a speedy return to CB Land and if I could I would wave a wand and pause your char so you wouldn't have to scrap it and start fresh all over again. You never know this could be a good break that will allow you to think of a better direction for your char so when you come back it would be with a vengeance!

Quyen November 19 2011 11:38 AM EST

QBRanger November 19 2011 11:44 AM EST

Good luck with the move l3go, hopefully we'll see you back soon. Sorry to here about the NCB run getting cut short, but these things happen unfortunately.
