[Fixed] server error (in General)

Is it just me? I would like to xfer horror to Z tonight if possible but cannot access any character.

I logged in/out, tried another computer, cleared history/cookies.

Nothing works, I get server errors, any suggestions or admin help?

Alternatively if an admin can transfer Horror to Z, I should have enough money on both my character to cover the costs.

If not a have some CBD on my account that I can spare just let me know.

first suggestion is to try and train, that often clears issues like this

I cannot get a character active. I says I have no unretired characters or gives me a server error.

Even when I make a new character and try to train, it states I have no unretired characters.

When I hit Train, I get the server error. I log out then in and I cannot access any of my characters, newly made or not.

Sorry, if I make a character, it becomes active but it is my only active one. The others do not show up in the drop down box. When I hit train it states I have no unretired characters.

sent you a 1 mpr char, that might do it

Cache Flush ought to fix the problem......

I do see I have rented item and I suspect I retired the character with the rental on it. I do not know if that makes a difference or created a bug.

No telling, best thing to do is simply try it out.......

Hey Ranger, looks like you've uncovered a new bug introduced from some changes recently to some pages. We'll get this fixed ASAP, I've informed NS so he can check it out. I don't know if he has seen this issue yet.

Well I hope it's nothing too serious!

Still cannot transfer the character to Z. Perhaps if someone can get the Tshirts off my character and move all my money to Horror I can transfer via the Manage page.

Ok I honestly would like to know if the Server Error is being worked on. It seems to be taking quite a while to be "Looked At". Any headway as of yet?

also getting this error in the business section, cannot access the weapon and armor store, tattoo artist, black market or rentals.

^_^ We really only have one real anti bug coder, poor NS.... =3 stuffed full of "Do this do that do this and that". ^_^ Its a good thing I'm studying coding... eventually. Thanks to my program logic and design, I learned quite a bit about codes and functionality of programs.

Well either they were working on the previous error and broke things a bit more OR it was left undone for too long and it just got worse. Either way it's something that cannot be ignored for too long as it is affecting too much in the game as of right now.

Ranger's error is unrelated to all of the others. Those are now fixed. Ranger's error is due to him retiring all of his characters, which chokes CB. I plugged the hole he used to do it so that no one else can get into that situation in the same way. Basically, when you do, CB has no idea what your default party is (the one selected in the sidebar), and the sidebar doesn't work to allow you to set one.

Forgive me if I'm in no rush to help someone quit after I took huge amounts of flak from all sides for breaking the CB rules to let him come back with his stuff not even a year ago. Consider that a lesson very well learned. Ranger, your account is fixed. Logout or refresh the sidebar.

Interesting that this is actually the second time since I did that that he is quitting. This is why I hate helping people, and why Jon never gave an inch to anyone. In a lot of ways, Jon was right.

Everyone says "Do this and I'll stay", "Do that and more will come", "Help me with this and it'll be better for CB", "CB is dying because you didn't do that", etc. It's all nonsense. You guys are REALLY wearing me out.

Yes, nothing ever gets done... except for everything that does. Nothing is ever changed... which is why I keep breaking CB (duh?) There's nothing revolutionary... except for every big idea I've implemented so far. Everyone wants to help... except for every single person that I've ever asked for help from, outside of small spurts that don't last. Including the almighty Ranger. And a list of about 25 other people that is far from devoid of most (not all) full/sub/t-admins and chat op staff.

That's not completely fair... Natasha is the exception. I've actually been the one dropping the ball with her, not the other way around. She has a bunch more rituals designed that I didn't finish coding up, she's constantly testing and finding fixes for things, and I run many ideas by her as a sounding board. She's got the whole codebase in her head, and yet never seen a line of it. Thanks, Nat.

Anyway, these errors are all fixed. And I'm still here, even if everyone else quits.

NS please do not take this the wrong way! CM me if you have any misgivings.

NS I can understand the sentiment and technical position you are explaining. However I must point out that you did not even CM me to find out what my role in this was. He retired everything and was walking out the door when I messaged him and said I would run his char for FREE while he took a breather. I would rather him Xfer a char such as Horror than to retire it and let it and everything on it rot no matter what the reason. Now you know.

Not trying to be mean but "Are you kidding?" Ranger has a cycle he quits and comes back it's what he does everyone knows it so this shouldn't be news.


Don't base all of your decisions on the actions of one.


Of course it is however constructive criticism should be welcomed yet not taken personally. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me you are taking it personally.


NS I have continually thanked you for everything you have done. It is awesome that you are doing so much now.(everything to us is visual so if you were doing stuff before thanks for that too!) Just understand that people will ALWAYS ask for more it is simply a part of our nature. Do what is within reason of your personal limits. Screw the extra unless you just really feel like going the distance.


There's little to no organization and even then just like you it is on off time. Once again thank you for all you do regardless of how you are thinking now or as a result of something said we really do appreciate you!


I've said it a million times give me stuff to do and I will try my best to get it done. What really pisses me off is the hurry up and wait attitude that I dealt with before. I got EVERYTHING asked of me completed within a very small timeline and ended up waiting for months on everyone else. That should speak volumes of my personal work ethic NS.


To me personally that is unfair as I just do not have the skills necessary to help code. It is a personal failing I know however there is other things I can do IF I have the support/backing I need.

I have never been far away NS, even when I had no char to play I still lurked the forums and thanked you continuously. Keep your head up we may beat on you a bit but remember this we have been bereft of upfront visual changes until you jumped in the saddle and made it evident. Your work, and that of others helping you, is like water to a person dehydrated. It's a given that we will clutch at you desperately and cry for more, just give it to us in the doses we need rather than want and I am sure we will be fine.

I am leaving due to severe personal issues.

Instead of selling out be happy I am giving my stuff away for free-again.

For all the money I have given CB through the years be happy I have played it for 8 plus years.

Instead of ranting that I am leaving be happy for me for whatever I do next in life.

I, for all it is worth, am glad to see new stuff once again.

Ranger I will say this for everyone to see. I respect your decision in "Giving" me this character, however, I do not feel comfortable if it is because you are mad. I offered to take care of your char for whatever time you needed so it would not stagnate. If this is a genuine giving then I will humbly accept and endevour to run it as well as you did. Take care Ranger!

BTW, just you guys know, NS has been very busy trying to clean up and optimize the code base of CB so that people like me and others can work with it easier. So, again I say bravo! :)

BTW NS I am still working on that thing, but I can't check in till it's done, otherwise it will break stuff.

I can always help out testing stuff :) Not a coder, but I do have a pretty strong love for the game even if I'm taking what I consider my CB vacation mode right now: Playing everyday day.. just not seriously. ;)
