Internet and Interpretations (in General)

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 13 2013 12:39 PM EDT

During my tenuous tenure here in CB Land I have had so many say things that have had puzzled:

You are emotional, yet I have been calm when I posted.

You are baiting, yet I was only answering a question/statement.

You are trolling, I was pointing something out.

You are argumentative, I was standing my ground like everyone else does.

After talking with people I consider close friends akin to family I have a possible answer for this dilemma that has plagued me. There is simply no way to truly interpret on the internet and usually those that do put their own crap into it.

This is the main reason I am leaving. I am tired of people deriving their interpretations from my intentions and meanings. Then attempting to hold it up as truth and expecting me to be okay with it.

For those on here who I consider a friend stay in touch because you know the real me and what I am about.

For those that repeatedly misinterpret me at every turn go get your life straightened out. You obviously have internal issues to work out. It's a game for crying out loud it's supposed to be fun.

There is simply no way to truly interpret on the internet

It's actually been scientifically tested and proven that inter-human communication carries a slew of so-called non-verbal information that is very difficult to properly convey in written form without a lot of effort and thought put into it by the one doing the writing.
Needless to say, most of us don't even think about trying to do that, let alone spend a lot of time trying to do it.

For instance, most forms of sarcasm (especially milder versions) are nearly impossible to recognize if you are not very familiar with the interlocutor IRL beforehand, and even so it can be quite hard to determine.
Body language, intonation, facial expressions, they're all mostly gone by default, and emoteicons barely scratch the surface of trying to get some of that back in.

That's interesting, sickone. And, no, there was no sarcasm there.

^ To go along with what Sickone point, albeit far less eloquently said, 500 people could all read something that someone else posts on the internet and they'll all probably take it 500 different ways.

Body language and intonation are far more important in understanding what someone is actually trying to convey, more then the verbiage they use ever will be. In my opinion at least.

why is Zenai always so damned condescending in their posts?!

QBRanger April 15 2013 5:40 PM EDT

Yes Z,

It is everyone else's fault. You are never to blame.

It is for everyone else to "get their life straightened out"!

One of the most self serving piece of horse crap I ever read.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 15 2013 7:13 PM EDT

Ranger let me get something VERY straight with you. I have never said I was always right. However keep in mind it is also statistically impossible to be always wrong. Even a broken clock is right once or twice a day depending if you are using regular or military time. Which really is my point from start to finish. 90% of the time people are dead wrong on my intentions which really does piss me off. You know that saying : Treat a person like a criminal long enough and they'll become one. If you cannot escape what others determine is you then you have 2 choices: Become the stigma or change the people you are around. I choose option #2. In short yeah it's self serving crap Ranger but it is my choice to make.

So take you failure of an attempt to bait me it's foundation is on non-existent ground, restructure it better. Better yet go back to the shadows like you promised and was hellbent to go a year ago..... wait too late you have already proven yourself a liar so why should anyone believe you now? *Drops the Gauntlet*

Z,

This is not about me. This is about you.

You made the post. I am just commenting on what I see as the problem you seem to have with "interpretations".

To tell people who "misinterpret" what you type to get their life straightened out seem to be a very childish response from a crybaby.

I guess if the shoe fits....

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 15 2013 8:12 PM EDT

Really Ranger this is the best you could come up with? Wow grasping for staws doesn't seem to be your forte. Seems childish to me.......
