The "spawnable" caveat means that you could turn a TJK into a ToA, but you couldn't turn it back into a TJK.

It would be fun but.....
In some ways it would be great, as everyone could get the tattoo they always wanted. Plus it would probably even out the number of TJK. However that would entirely devalue this ToE I just bought (from you), and we can't have that now can we :)
-- NotSuitablForChildren
NSFC, I imagine the fee would be significantly higher than the cost of buying an identical tattoo from another player.

Can you do anything about the giant Van Halen logo on my back =P

Interesting but ....still vote no: P my vote doesn't matter anyway

I like it, but rather than making the cost NW related only, you could always have an "Exp" cost as well. Kinda like unlearning a spell.

Lesser to Full?
Would they be able to upgrade a lesser to a full? I suspect that may be more desirable for a lot of people! =) I would certainly find it a good incentive to save $$ if I could upgrade my Lesser ToE to a full one... Alternatively have a level that lesser tattoos reach where they grow into full tattoos - maybe level 100,000 or something to stop it happening too easily. Otherwise you lessen the value of the full tattoos.
-- QBJohnnywas
Woo Hoo!!
Tattoo Artist! Go go go!
-- KingMeng
boo
Bad Idea.. Im trying to bring my tattoo up to be on the best.. and because of this.. Itll be impossible because of people with higher ones changing into tats of ice..
-- Deikain
I think tattoos should be permanent, with a power loss penalty for removal or change. It would be cool to upgrade my named lesser to a named regular, but that's I still vote against the idea.
-- Fishead
Yes & No
Well, it's nice, and I voted yes - but!
I like the "upgrade" idea presented earlier - so that should be one option at the artist. The other would be to change to a new tattoo of a different variety, but I think it should ONLY change to lesser tattoos, there should be a dock to the tattoo's lv (25%?), and a lv 100K lesser should be upgradeable as suggested earlier. These two ideas together make a great new idea, IMHO
-- chernobyl
No
Items should stay what they are. People with high ToJs has chosen to have them, and it's their problem if they realize it's bad later on.
Many people has lost quite a deal of money, and PR to get the tats they want, when people (like Chet) has bought big ToJs.
Coincidence, that it seems to be his idea?
-- Majestik Moose
Yes, with caveat
I would make the greater and lesser tattoo distinction permenant.
-- Grant
No No No
I dont think so.
-- {CB3}-HR22
So people can just buy a big tattoo of any type and turn it into whatever they want...lets see...NO! The only way I see this being possible is if we completely remove the sale/transfer of tattoos.
Do that and it would be fine, but if not, it just means people can buy a high level tattoo of any type and immediately convert it to their strategy.
-- Tenchi Muyo
Never!
This just seems like another way of making the strong stronger and the weak weaker. Just causing a bigger gap between new and old players.
-- LumpBot
another possibility would be that you untrain your tattoo like minion skills and lose xp/levels instead of money. The option "use money to get what you need" already exists
-- Power
Question to Jonathan:
Would there be a way to go in circles or in any way see what it has been before?
-- AdminShade
Good Idea
I think its a good idea...might end up with alot of one tat in auctions and such tho..
-- WickedlySane
NOOO
ah this idea is a killer... majestic moose has it completly right... this would devalue all tats and make it too easy... you have to work to do well on cb... ah... /me hates this idea and hope it never happens
-- Evil
So essentially, all tattoos would be worth exactly the same. Except for ToJ, which would be worth a tad higher. *cough*Tequitoforjonathan'05*cough*
-- iBananco
Lesser to Normal?
I doubt you would allow this, at least I hope not, but felt the need to ask.
-- Myonax
I voted yes right away, but have thought about it for a while. As long as there is a cost associated with it - i.e., convert a 100K TJK to a 50K ToE. Make the actual cost in CB$ not be so much, there's plenty of cash sinks, but make the converter pay in tat level.
And you could allow merging of tats. 3 lessers make a greater at the level of the lowest lesser? 2 tats of the same kind merge to higher plus half the level of the lower?
Lots of options. Could be fun.
-- [EG] Almuric
what the...??
i thought these were tattoos, not a house of lies, i think tattoos should be able to be changed, maybe upgraded for lesser to full, but not changed...
-- Unappreciated Misnomer
I'm with G_Beee
Should be like re-training a skill/spell. Lose EXP(i.e.level) rather than cash.
-- [Redneck RV] Truc
I predict
that if this does happen, there will be a lot fewer ToJ's in the game, and more people buying supporterships for others to get a base ToJ to make it a ToA or something else. The value of tatoos will drop enormously though I'm sure.
-- [From CB1]Tequito
Diversity?
I think it will add more diversity in the game. At the moment you can pick from forging, camping, fighting or general trading to get cash. If this new idea gets implemented it might be good for the economy, if not, delete it! Theres no harm in trying a new idea is there? I say give it a shot, see what happens.
-- Wasp
I'd like to see where this would go. New things are fun (if not teporarily 'imbalancing'). :D
-- Starseed^Lure
Weapons
While you are at it, allow the blacksmith to melt down your weapon and mold another. Oh, and bows too!
-- Stephen
Small thing about results of poll
Maybe take into account the number of people who voted who actually have the tat they want currently...
-- Mythology
Not really my idea...
Just so everyone knows, all I did to "inspire" Jonathan was do what I do best -- whine. I was talking about how tattoos are a hard choice (impossible) because we all need one, but if we choose "poorly" we get screwed.
Jonathan mentioned trades, but in the same breath realized that the abundance of ToJs might be a hindrance to those possessing large tattoos of that flavor.
So, not really my idea, but I like it. I actually think it should be a combination of money AND loss of level to do it.. The money aspect should still be there (since tattoos _are_ items), but because they are also somewhat magical, have an "unlearn" penalty like G_Beee mentions.
Think of it this way... You have to pay the tattoo artist for the services, and due to the pain and "newness" of the changed tattoo design, the tattoo is less effective for a while (thereby lower in level). Makes perfect sense to me. *smile* And it SHOULD be hard to morph a tattoo.
-- QBsutekh137
I always thought these tattoos were the temporary, removable kind since we can unequip them rather easily.
-- [FireBreathing]Chicken
Horrible Idea
Why not just add more tattoos? Then you would try to get the one that fits your strategy rather than morphing or changing a Tattoo into what you want. It would be easy to buy supportership for someone, in exchange for the ToJ then simply change it. Since the ToJ at that point would be base, what penalty could incur for the morph? Those with powerful Tattoos were recently screwed by the recent changes to all tattoos, let's not remove the uniqueness and desire for their rarity by implementing a change such as this.
-- Relic
i think its a brilliant idea, and smart if jon intends to release new tattoos later on in the game (which would normally be way too late for anyone to care under current settings)
-- Steve G
That would be it's only good use...
A year into the game and the new tattoo of brand spanking newness is released.
Which established player with an existing tattoo of 1Mil + would bother changed back to a level 20...
But there needs to be a drawback.
-- AdminQBGentlemanLoser
If implemented the NW related fee should be dollars and lost NW. There's a penalty to unlearning regular stats. I think it would be appropriate to charge a similar fee for reclassifying a tattoo. This could be done at a similar cost struture so that changing a TJK would be more costly (12-15%) than a DD tattoo (5%, I think).
-- colonel
Excellent Idea!
the greatest news since ToJs came out, kudos to Jon :D
-- [SoV] Shiv
I have yet another retarded suggestion.
Once a tattoo trains itself in something, it is stuck with it. However, the tattoo artist can change how any future XP is trained into the tattoo. Thus, a tatt can begin its life as a ToJ, but can be re-inked to train something else. Tattoos can lose a % of their XP from each trained attribute and cost a significant amount of money to re-ink.
-- Victim
Anything that allows to make strategy changes easier is good. If tattoo is part of the PR, it's normal that you could somehow retrain it.
-- mihalis
Blacksmith Artist
That's about as good idea as having the blacksmith change a dagger into a Morgul-Hammer.
-- Nixon Jibfest
You can change tattoos into other things if you are a talented tattoo artist, but usually it only works the first time. As far as turning a dagger into a morgul hammer, I think if you melt down the dagger into its elements you will still be missing much of the mass of the weapon.
-- AdminQBVerifex
BAD
VERY BAD IDEA. No ofense Chet, but its very cheap for noobs. Like, huge ToE's becoming Huge ToA's or something. That would be chaotic!
-- 3D
i actually like victims idea a lot...but i see how it could really get out of hand...this way you could make a tattoo that trained 1.2 hp and 1/2 dd...it should only be for suporting tattoos, like endurance and augmentation, and i also like the idea of eventually lesser tattoos reaching the full status, otherwise lessers are worthless in the long run..
-- Jason Bourne
Dislike it, but...
...if you made the penalty high to do it, then maybe. For example: Allow it, but base the cost on the NW of the tattoo you're changing FROM and you can only change it to another (spawnable) type, but it loses all its levels and reverts to base. Regardless of how much it was, and how much you paid.
-- MoeDrippins
Great idea.
Just don't make it cheap ;)
Cash sink = Always good :)
Just a few ideas even though I think you'd already have this figured out:
1, Say, two options: 75% of market value (going by auctions) but 50% chance of it working. Or, 125% of market value with 90% chance of it working.
2, Make it a forge option, that you can forge it into another type of tat but depending on the tat type and size it's a bigger job.
3, Make a new "A Tatttoo of Chuckles" as the best tat in the game =P
-- MrC
ToC
Tattoo of Chuckles:
Trains Eating Chips and Sitting on a Chair. Has 1 HP.
Skill: Sleeping
-- 3D
Cruel but true :)
-- MrC
All I have to say.
all i have to say is, if this happens i think my idea from back in CB1 should be considered. Alchemy, by way of forging only. using items to give a current weapon a "power" of some sort.
-- Chargerz-Back
Boo :(
/me goes into a blue-faced rant about how she doesn't like the idea of tattoos (though she has 4 IRL) or CB2 (though she occasionally plays)
This sucks.
-- Tonya
Uh... nevermind.
-- Fishead
You know, there is another option.
I think the idea is to make any "changing of Tattoo" as painful as possible. In otherwords, yes you can change a tattoo but it must have a significant penalty to make you wonder, "do I really want to do this?"
If you want to make it a hard decision then why not have a MERGE facility. If you want to turn your ToJ into a ToA then you have to go out and find yourself a ToA to mix with your existing ToJ. Take them both to the Blacksmith (or NPC of Jons choosing) and ask for a merge. The outcoming level of your new Tattoo can be decided based on the net NW difference. There should also be a fincancial charge for the service.
Go with this proposal and you get a money sink and a method to take some rares out of the game.
I like it, but then again, I would :p
-- AdminG Beee
I'll open up a Laser Surgery to remove tattooe
Send all unwanted tattooes to "TheElvenWallet". :) Free of charge.
-- Xiaz on Hiatus
Tired of tattoos
Of course you can only get this done after 2:00 AM and you have to be drunk.
I can hardly wait for piercings :p
-- NSFY
I don't like the idea but,
while you're at it could I:
change my morg to a bone?
change my exbow to a axbow?
change my hod to a corn?
But the one I REALLY want to do is:
Change my cb2$ to usd in game via a Money Exchange. Now that would be neat.
-- Barron
good idea
i think that this is a good idea because then i can buy new tatoo's instead of having the same old bad ones
-- minicrackerjaxck
Add Risk Factor
I'm against it because it'll establish an imbalance in items in the game.
I'd be for it if there was a risk factor... like a 5% chance that the tattoo artist would mess up and turn your tattoo into a lesser tattoo.
-- Nixon Jibfest
LOL
LOL @ NSFY :)
The piercing it gives you would be random and you can't remove it .... "A Tongue Barbell [2] (+2)" ... "A Septum Ring [1]"
-- someone[onabreak]
"A Prince Albert"
>_<
-- AdminQBGentlemanLoser
Bad Idea
I have nothing to back it up, that's just what I voted.
-- CT
I love the idea. It would allow all of us stuck with the much less rare ToJ that just does not match our tactics to use the tattoo we were born to use, without having to retrain one from scratch. And it keeps the ToJ special because there is no way to convert other tattoos into one.
I agree that there should be a cost, but I think it should ba a cost in $ AND levels!
As for all those rude comments about reforging weapons, these tattoos are not normal. If you are so into reality why haven't you complained that they can be swapped from minion to minion so callously. I always thought of them as familiars rather than tattoos anyway.
Here - you take the fire breathing toad for a while. He keeps burning my breakfast when he gets miffed!
-- miteke
tats are getting overrated...and actually the rewards and new changes to them has started to balance them out really well, which i think should be left alone.... enough with the tats... this fad is becomming so yesterday
-- Mandy
A Differant Idea...
Maybe you should buy just "A Tattoo", then spend money/exp on it to kind of morph it into the type of tattoo you want it to be. The types availible would depend on the amount of exp/$$ you spend on it. Maybe it's not such a good idea... i dunno. What do you guys think?
-- Davie
umm yes
maybe like..when ur lesser gets to a certain xp..i can be changed to a base..regular tat..but only ltoa's into toa and ltoe into toe..and so on
-- Bull3t F4c3
See LoanBarron, he has a great point with the money exchange, i think if we do it, it will have to be like the naming items things and cost USD...
