Blood Vials Returns! (in General)

Why not introduce a second form of currency called Blood Vials (or another suitable name). But this currency would be earned differently then money or exp. Every fight you'd make would have a small chance of earning you a blood vial (very small chance). The chance would go up as you went through the different BA regen phases (as in, much more likely in a battle to get a blood vial as a 6/20 then as a 10/20, because you're fighting less battles). More importantly, no bonuses would impact these chances (NUB/NCB/Challenge Bonus). Basically? A reward for those who burn tons and tons of BA, who play for years.

Now, an important part here is that blood vials, unlike money, would NOT be tradeable. Not with USD, CB or clever manipulation of the system. They'd be bound to the user.

But the purpose of blood vials?

This brings be to an idea to be tied in with Blood Vials.

Legendary Equipment.

Yes, we have rares. But as players have pointed out, there is no more... Magic there. Very little pride in getting a weapon that's simply -needed-. So creating items that are powerful and yet something to pride yourself on getting.

Many pieces of great armor and powerful weapons and NO way to get them outside of pure dedication. These items would cost Blood Vials (and perhaps a small amount of cash to even out the slight reduction in rares being bought via uactions) and offer variety and strength to your team.

These items could only be improved with BVs, leading to a constant strategic question between upping that Legendary sword or buying the shield that would augment your team so perfectly...


I have (and I'm sure many of you will if you like this idea) many ideas as to items that could be bought with this, but I want to see first if this idea is taken to at all.

Approved once again! But the effects shouldn't be too high, or people would be OP just because they were oldies!

I seem to remember someone suggested that they be trinkets that can be attached/unattached to normal armour, it sounds cool and adds a degree of customization to the game!

I think it is a good idea. Though I believe that there should be a way to level it out. The more you play the more you earn....the less you play then not only the less you earn but you start to loose accumulated BVs. This will keep the Vets from sitting on the BVs and then buying a whole set of Legendary Armor in one shot. Plus it makes the vets work a little extra and get back that New Char feel because they have a new aim in their Chars career.

I had considered giving NUBs a higher chance, but only slightly. Not NCBs. The idea here is definitely not to -increase- people's desire to scrap established characters and be forced to start again every six months.

I can see not increasing the chance for NCB, however, it seems to me that Jon wants NUBs to have the exact same chance as older players.

The chance to getting a special item such as a BV would have to be increased to reflect that.

I think the idea behind BV are to actually give an edge to people that have spent more time then healthy on here.

Why not have them simply improve exusting items and effects. Heck of a lot more feasable to not have to create a whole new structure and balance it all.

Just give a .5% increase to existing effects on a minion per vial equipped. If you really wanted a unique bonus, it could simply be a percentage chance of resurrection, or HP drain on damage regardless of type.

this is pretty cool. Imo the age of the character should have a positive correlation with the likelihood of earning a vial, with no bonus to NUBs or NCBs.

one potential implementation (albeit more complicated and drastic) would be to use these as rewards for the 'achievement' style activities that have been suggested (can't find the thread right now). that would allow them to be moderately easy for the first few, varying to rather insane for the last...

how about earning blood vials just from burning BA.... i think "older players" should get some sort of benefit other then CB shirts that give 1 AC (or 2 if you name them) (i do like them but it seems small in comparison to the nub lol)

Perhaps an alternative would be for Blood Vials to have a potential to spawn each time you visited a new page within CB. A small percent chance, but still there - this way those who spend more time on the site get greater benefit, whereas those who burn 160 BA and run will get lesser benefit.

In other words, it keeps more people on the site doing things for longer. Forums would become more active, and the Wiki would be better-read (and therefore better updated.)

This also gives incentive for new players, who burn their BA and then feel that there is nothing left to do for hours at a time, to browse the site.

easily fixed by setting a timer. Think the "slow down!" message you get for fighting too fast, but for refreshing.

I think this is a fantastic idea. Why not have both: a chance based on BA and an absurdly small chance based on browsing the site.
Not sure if this would ever be implemented, but I think it will certainly encourage more CBers to stick around.
