Remaking "the force of nature", need strat help (in Contests)

Corath June 1 2009 4:58 AM EDT

some of you might remember me from cb1 and my char "the force of nature" the largest single tank for a long time.

the force of nature was equiped with els/elb and a mix of light and heavy tank gear.. mostly build around his huge elb. all im sure of is that im going to get an elb for him.. and now that we got tat's im sure he will need one as well, dont know if it should be a hal or a ToA tho =)

im going to try and remake him, but lots of things have changed so i need a little help on strats here.. im gonna start him when this ncb runs out some time in aug.

what i need is total build: item's/skill/tat/stats. and ill pay 100k to who ever makes the build i like most. (im gonna start it with base items, so nothing like you need db's +100 thx)

The ToA does give you a huge advantage in terms of cash spend. The bonus it gives to weapon plus means you can build a weapon only on it's X and still a decent amount of PTH. My 3.8 mill ToA gives me about +135 on my mageseeker bow, and about +125 on my Morg.

So yeah, I'd suggest a ToA, because the one third of tattoo NW giving the same amount in weapon plus actually equates to two thirds of tattoo NW if you equip a ranged and melee weapon. That's a huge saving of cash that can be used on the damage side of the weapon and on items.

well as i said, i really need a TOTAL strat.. but thanks for your input

QBJohnnywas June 1 2009 6:28 AM EDT

lol, I'm doing just that - putting in input.

However what I would do with a single tank is what I am doing;

Single tank, large HP, and ST/Dex as high as they can go. Archery in order to maximise my ranged attack, which is a mageseeker used instead of AMF. Morg in melee to extend HP so I can mop up over an extended period of time.

AoM and BoM for strength boosts, ToA for PTH more than stat augmentation. Elven boots for dex boost, HoC for extra round and belegs for extra ranged damage.

No spells. I'm trying to avoid them, including DM and AMF. The mageseeker may be weaker in terms of damage, but it allows me to go straight to the mage, which is sort of a substitute for DM and AMF. And the Morg gives me it's VA, which means I can take on DM without a worry.

The main weaknesses are the usual single minion woes, no kill slots to defend me, and I've no defense against decay. I'm also weak against GA thanks to me not having DM.

Strengths? Well I do pretty well against mage teams, but I do very well against other tanks, mostly because I've the highest Dex in the game: they don't touch me half the time, including all those lovely little HAL teams, and most of that concentration is because I'm not using spells. He's just a physical guy.

hmm yea i can see why you use Msg.. hmm i just like HUGE dmg =)

Corath June 1 2009 8:15 AM EDT

how do you do against exbows ??

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 1 2009 8:41 AM EDT

well if you like huge damage Look at my strat. You might want to invest in a ToA it will give you tons of damage.

Corath June 1 2009 11:05 AM EDT

yea i have been looking at your char a few times..

Corath June 1 2009 1:39 PM EDT

what I'm am looking for is a strat posted like this example:

Str: 1/3
Dex: 1/3
Skill: archery

Tat: ToA

Head: HoD
Hands: Tulkas
Feet: DB's
Amulet: Aom
Shield: bom
Melee weap: Morgul
Ranged weap: Elb

QBRanger June 1 2009 1:55 PM EDT

AdminShade June 1 2009 2:15 PM EDT

Corath June 2 2009 11:54 AM EDT

QBOddBird June 2 2009 11:59 AM EDT

Hp:
Str:
Dex:
Skill: archery

Tat: ToA

Head: HoC
Hands: Belegs
Feet: DB's unless Ex gets adjusted, then EB's
Amulet: Aom
Shield: bom
Melee weap: ELS
Ranged weap: Elb

I left the intrinsics blank because that's up to you, I'm just here to offer my advice on your equips, not to tell you every detail on how to train your char ;)

Oddbird is right. Do not commit too much to a certain exp distribution. You should be looking at your post battle stats and constantly readjusting accordingly.

Corath June 2 2009 2:01 PM EDT

thanks OddBird, first one to actually come up with something i can use here..

and i know that i should look at post combat logs and train what ever stat is needed. just want a pointer..

and what about amf ?? worth putting some into it or no ?? DM ??

QBOddBird June 2 2009 2:05 PM EDT

Go with DM for a quick killing ranged character. You want to eliminate GA retaliation and Ablative Shield HP so you kill more quickly.

If you're doing your job and killing fast, you don't have too much to fear from Decay, and you should be able to outdamage ranged DD spells.

Corath June 3 2009 1:45 AM EDT

ok thanks.. gonna wait and see if anyone thinks different

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 3 2009 2:02 AM EDT

To Follow up on OBs comment he is very right if you are going to go with this kind of Strat, here's the catches.

1. It's expensive to keep the items upgraded to keep an optimal fighting list.

2. You have to buy BA every Day for optimal growth or it will take forever.

Name all of your items for the extra boost it gives you. Starting fast off the Block will be key in making a difference in the beginning. Be prepared to lose a lot of fights in the beginning, that is in your first 100K MPR Range. After this Balancing your Char/Item Growth will be you biggest difficulty.
