AdminG Beee October 3 2009 10:45 AM EDT

Banned TheCakeIsTheTruth and GM. Reset Esoteric.

QBRanger October 3 2009 10:45 AM EDT

About damm time that multi was found out.

Darn NUB sellouts.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 3 2009 10:48 AM EDT

pew pew pew and another one bites the dust

[P]Mitt October 3 2009 11:17 AM EDT

Oof, that's a big one too!

Demigod October 3 2009 11:26 AM EDT

It honestly feels like every NUB sellout is a multi...

BootyGod October 3 2009 11:28 AM EDT

There's a reason why everyone is so paranoid about it.

It's still sad though.

QBRanger October 3 2009 11:30 AM EDT

"It honestly feels like every NUB sellout is a multi... "

Hasn't that already been proven :)

But seriously, Cake was selling out during his NUB. It seemed that he was playing just to sell out. How much more obvious did it need to be?

DoS October 3 2009 11:32 AM EDT

^Agree

Good find Beee

Sickone October 3 2009 11:34 AM EDT

"Hasn't that already been proven :) "

Apparently, not blindingly obvious enough for Jon to take notice and change the NUB to... anything else except the disaster waiting to happen we have now.

Burton October 3 2009 11:38 AM EDT

''It honestly feels like every NUB sellout is a multi... ''

Heh seems that way, to find out my friend who brought me into this game lied to me and was a multi the whole time sucks, atleast he got what he deserved..

Nice catch though Bee and whoever helped him, assuming Ranger since he is good at that sorta thing. :)

BootyGod October 3 2009 11:43 AM EDT

You know, it would be nice if once, when the NUB sellout was caught, we didn't all complain about how easy there are and how many there are.... I mean...

Today, there is one less pretty serious sellout. I'm happy with that. And for the complaints about how many get away with it... Well, once again, there's one less now ; P

Sickone October 3 2009 11:46 AM EDT

If he finished selling out already, there's nothing to be happy about. Absolutely nothing.

QBRanger October 3 2009 11:46 AM EDT

You know, it would be nice if once, when the NUB sellout was caught, we fixed the system to make it harder for NUBs to sell out.... I mean... let us be real now about this broken system and not overly moralistic.

Or just fix the system so the NUB was not as tempting as it is now.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] October 3 2009 11:49 AM EDT

Don't buy from nubs? But then again they are the only ones with access to huge amounts of cash.

AdminShade October 3 2009 11:50 AM EDT

access to huge amounts of cash.

Is that so? If a veteran like Ranger or novice or any with a huge character would sell items then they would generate an immense amount of cash also.

QBRanger October 3 2009 11:50 AM EDT

The problem is that it only takes 1 person to buy from them.

And those desiring to sell out typically have a lower price than those who are not multi sell outs.

QBRanger October 3 2009 11:51 AM EDT

Certainly Shade,

However it is rarer for a vet to sell out than a multi NUB sell out.

Much rarer.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 3 2009 11:53 AM EDT

Sickone I agree but I understand where GW is coming from there is one less at least that is a small win.

QBRanger October 3 2009 11:54 AM EDT

I am sick of these "small wins". I want to win the whole freaking war vs these multi NUB sell outs.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 3 2009 11:58 AM EDT

I agree with that sentiment also Ranger but when you do not have any other avenue you take what you can get, be happy for it and then strive for more. I think in essence this is what GW was trying to mean.

[RX3]Cotillion October 3 2009 12:11 PM EDT

Why not just ban NUBs from selling CBD?

QBRanger October 3 2009 12:19 PM EDT

http://www.carnageblender.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=002lHJ

Already been discussed.

Lord Bob October 3 2009 12:23 PM EDT

"Why not just ban NUBs from selling CBD?"

Or ban the N*B.

BootyGod October 3 2009 12:37 PM EDT

Overly moralistic? What do you call the demand that all law be enforced without question, with immense prejudice and, best yet, change the laws of the game so as to better enforce those rules.

Hey... The reminds me of something political.... I wonder what.

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- October 3 2009 6:05 PM EDT

1 less... Until he or a friend comes back. and then it's 1 more.

*sigh*

I'm with Ranger on this one.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 3 2009 6:21 PM EDT

Yet another saddening moment for CB.

TheHatchetman October 3 2009 6:27 PM EDT

"But seriously, Cake was selling out during his NUB. It seemed that he was playing just to sell out. How much more obvious did it need to be?"

Fembley did this as well, and I still believe that was his one and only account...

But to the topic at hand. While i do agree with the fact that the ability to sell out a massive cash bonus is a lot of incentive to cheat that should be removed, I also believe it is the job of the purchasers of CBD to do so by choosing not buy in these situations, rather than for there to be a rule that either hurts the game or has a million simple loopholes (a ban on NUB sales would also be banning NUB contests, no?).

It really makes no sense to pay for something you like enough to spend your money on it to be ruined or abused. The sooner more people figure that out, the sooner this will be less of a problem.

"It really makes no sense to pay for something you like enough to spend your money on it to be ruined or abused. The sooner more people figure that out, the sooner this will be less of a problem."

Considering the ONLY people that have any reasonable amounts of CB$ are sellouts, and considering the rate of veteran players selling out is minimal, you quickly come to the conclusion that as a CB$ purchaser, you have no choice but to (mainly) buy CB$ from NUB sellouts.
N O C H O I C E
As long as CB$ purchasing is allowed, and as long as the NUB is such a cashcow, this will keep going on.

In other words, the sooner Jon realizes that he has to either radically change the way the NUB works or forbid CB$ sales (not that it won't happen at all, but it will happen a lot less often once the buyers start getting punished).

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] October 3 2009 9:10 PM EDT

I would argue with people saying the only ones with much CB$ are those with NUB's. I've pretty easily saved up 60million just by patiently plinking away some BA every day. The point is, people would still have CB to sell if the price was right even without the NUB.

Yes, NUB's do have lots of money. If things were changed to where they had no cash advantage, or perhaps couldn't sell out, we might see a bit of an economic swing. I would expect the CB/USD ratio to swing higher, maybe even head back towards $10/mill. Seems like that would be a good thing to me, in addition to cutting down on multi incentives.

Sickone October 3 2009 11:19 PM EDT

Of course not just the NUBs have large amounts of cash and/or NW on them... almost every veteran has either one or the other. The difference is, vets don't sell out that often.
How many veteran sellouts have you witnessed in the past year ? Maybe two ? Three ? And most of them prompted by RL-issues (combined financial problems and/or possible inability to play CB for a long while).
But... how many NUB sell-outs have you seen ? Out of those that made it to a respectable level, as soon as their NUB is over, a shockingly high percentage DOES sell out. Some might be genuine players shocked at how much rewards have dropped and finding it very difficult to adjust to the lack of free BA, other might be multies, some are the latter claiming to be the former... but the thing is, the proportion of sell-outs is outrageously high.
Which is bad for the game in more than just one way.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] October 4 2009 4:13 AM EDT

At least Vets put their time into the game, their thoughts into the game, their 'e-friendships' into the game, their own USD, for some, into the game.

NUBs just use the game...
