Agree. That was my only drop. Pointless or what?

I'd have to say the executioners sword I recently sold to the weapon shop can be removed from the drop system as well.

Merrit October 25 2009 11:01 AM EDT

complaining about free items? at the very least you can just sell it for about 5k..

Levon [Clocked Out] October 25 2009 11:08 AM EDT

i agree that all items that sell for less than 50K should spawn in the weapon/armor shop and not as drops or from the auctioneer

AdminShade October 25 2009 12:06 PM EDT

I think this item belongs to the same category as the lesser tattoos in which it should be removed from the spawning list.

"complaining about free items? at the very least you can just sell it for about 5k.. "

Free? More like 20% of my cash rewards for nothing.

I agree with removing the junk from drop rewards.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 25 2009 12:25 PM EDT

Yeah. None of these drops have been free since the system was placed in. It took 20% cash drops to get us that.

BootyGod October 25 2009 6:16 PM EDT

The ENTIRE concept of semi rare is outdated. Katanas, Execus, Elven Stilletos.

Why would ANYONE buy a weaker weapon than another just because the base price is 1 mil lower when you'll need to invest 50 times that regardless of your choice to make it work?

Either remove it from the drops, remove it for the game, or make it less crappy and upgrade is to full rare.

Wraithlin October 25 2009 7:14 PM EDT

The entire concept of the way items work is rediculous. It costs less to upgrade the more powerful items. So basically buying anything but the best is a waste of cash, even more so if you try to upgrade it because your NW will skyrocket alot faster than your damage/protection. There should be a tag added to every item but the top in the category *do not buy, other items are better*.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 25 2009 7:18 PM EDT

I agree with Wraithlin, it is rather counterproductive to have the lower x upgrades and higher + upgrades on the best weapons meaning the NW of an inferior weapon has to be a lot higher than a top 5 weapon to get the same damage results.

Wraithlin October 25 2009 7:41 PM EDT

Unfortunately having it the other way would just make the inferior weapons more powerful, because the real reason the higher weapons are better are the upgrade costs, the base stats are meaningless after x5000 + 100. And how much it cost you to get there of course.

A better solution would be to make the cost to upgrade the same. So that you can get a lower item and not worry about it. But then the forgers in this game could upgrade your item from say a Katana to a Vorpal Sword. This of course would increase the base stats of the item and increase the NW, however you don't lose the xWhatever and +Whatever, it transfers over.

You could even have a blacksmith service that does this for a massive fee that would entice you to find a friend. It could be just like the tatoo service but with weapons/armor.

Now not every item needs to be the same, but 90% of them sure. But there are some items that should either be cheaper or more expensive than the base and for good reason, and possibly those items shouldn't allow transfers at the smithy either.

Just a thought.

BootyGod October 25 2009 7:49 PM EDT

The base stats are not meaningless. At all.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 25 2009 7:52 PM EDT

The system is already in place Wraithlin, but only for the Top 5 Melee Weapons it is the Salvage Yard through the Blacksmith.

Changing a Lower Weapon to a Higher Weapon(e.g. Katana to Vorpal Blade) would be akin to trying to turn a Lesser Tat into a Full Tat.

*Thumbs Down*

If we are to go this Route then we would need to have Greater Weapons(Both Melee and Ranged), Greater Tats, and also have a Missile Salvage Yard as well. I'm not sure how much this will ever be thought about by Jon/NS since the Coding involved and Balance Issues would be tremendous.

Just My Opinion.

As far as the Semi-Rares I agree Take them all out period! For a 20% Cash Sink if I am to get a drop I would greatly appreciate it if I got something worthwhile for my Garnished Cash Rewards O.o

Wraithlin October 25 2009 7:53 PM EDT

so if you have a 4x1 +0 and turn it into a 4x5000 you think the 4 stat or the 5000 stat adds more damage?

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] October 25 2009 7:55 PM EDT

In a comparison to say, a 92x5000 weapon it will do much, much, much less damage.

Wraithlin October 25 2009 7:59 PM EDT

On that note of turning a lesser into a normal. I also think that should be possible, as long as you pay the NW change in cost. There are so many places in CB that as a new guy, (which i still consider myself), that unless I go and read all of the forums before I spend 100 BA, i'm going to waste alot of my time and money.

Basic rundown of a newbie:

Oh look I have a guy who fights, sweet, i'll go buy him a sword.
-Sorry newbie you don't know it yet but that sword you bought is worthless and will soon be a money sink if you upgrade it.

Oh look a tatoo I can buy, this lesser ice familiar looks fun, i'll take one of those.
-Sorry newbie you don't know it yet but you're wasting 33% of your tatoo growth because you have a lesser tatoo. Maybe you should read 5 hours of forums before you go too far.

Oh look at all these sweet abilities, oh and I can get up for four guys too!
-Sorry newbie, if you get multiple guys and abilites you just gimp yourself and can't make it to the top 10% in your lifetime. You should of gotten 1 fireball mage. Too late now, good luck.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 25 2009 8:04 PM EDT

Wraithlin you are not the first to say this and undoubtedly you will not be the last. In short CB is complicated! We need to have the Tutorial reset to the here an now and honestly I think that the Mentor Program should be reinstated.

Just my opinion.

Wraithlin October 25 2009 8:13 PM EDT

CB is very complicated, and I actually love that and I love this game which is why I post on the forums so much and offer my opinions. That last post was more of a joke to have a laugh. Oh and I fell into all of those pitfalls myself. I have a 4 minion team and I have a very upgraded katana and I use a lesser tatoo till 60k or so (on the tatoo).

I don't know how to fix it, but I do think something needs to change though with the way everything works. It's not fair to new people coming to this game that will undoubtably hit all the pitfalls I did. In my opinion it's why this game doesn't have a huge player base. After two weeks of hard work, they finally learn enough about the game to figure out they just butchered two weeks worth of work and now have a worthless tatoo, a worthless upgraded sword and a 4 minion team with the most complicated of strategies to try to work with. Heck, even the tutorial tells you to buy a second minion.

After two weeks I think most of the new players reach the phase where they have learned they just screwed up thier character so badly that starting over is actually the best option. Here is where I think most of your players leave the game.

I decided to stay because i'm not going to let a bunch of people I don't know on the forums tell me my four minion team can't make it. Oh and because the game is great, even with the pitfalls for newbies.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 25 2009 8:39 PM EDT

I agree with Wraith, and have always been of this opinion.

To have the best itmes be the cheapest to upgrade, and to get higher reward the larger you get, is counter intuitive. And also runs counter to probably every other RPG game in existence. ;)

Base stats mean a lot (more than the upgrde cost based on them). So a Dagger with a cheaper X than an ELS won't necessarily make the ELS redundant.

It might be possible to the dagger to overtake the ELS at some point. Depending on how much cheaper the X cost is. But parity could be achived by tweaking the numbers.

And if we don't want it possible for a dagger to ever become more damaging thanan ELS, why do we have them? (besides being a necessary starting weapon)

At best, being unable to disenchant these low items is a cash sink. At worst, they're a new player trap.

Just like the DCM used to be.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] October 25 2009 8:41 PM EDT

Leveled lesser tattoos and these semi rares still have their place and are worth something if you know when to sell them. They have quite a bit of worth for tourney chars.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 25 2009 9:17 PM EDT

Tournies can get all the items they require for the tourney spawned though.

Varda is pleased with your victory and grants you a An Elven Stiletto [55x9] (+6). Use it well!

Got another one!
First 2 drops in over 2 months and they are both completely worthless!

RaptorX October 26 2009 2:42 PM EDT

Maybe the drops should be larger items (like over 1 mill value) that the Central bank has bought. :) I have seen quite a few good items disappear into that black hole.

BHT October 27 2009 2:54 PM EDT

Bump, NS can you please do a favor for us and remove the worthless semi-rares. Jon ( i believe) did one step in removing the lesser tats. This should be a quick change, i assume, and I doubt anybody would object to it. So why not?

Cube October 27 2009 3:32 PM EDT

"Changing a Lower Weapon to a Higher Weapon(e.g. Katana to Vorpal Blade) would be akin to trying to turn a Lesser Tat into a Full Tat."

And what exactly is wrong with that? Wraithlin is dead on with his suggestion.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 27 2009 3:34 PM EDT

Problem is, if we remove all the semi-rare drops, the drop rate for items won't be increased.

So we'd see even less drops than we currently do.

I'm in whole agreement with Ranger that this just doesn't work for CB. CB isn't the style of game to revolve rewards around item drops.

We should just scrap this and get the 20% cash back.

Tulkas is pleased with your victory and grants you a A Katana [74x6] (+7). Use it well!

Such a wonderful prize, now if only they were worth more than 50k!

QBRanger October 27 2009 5:54 PM EDT

I would really like to see the "lesser" rares such as the Katana and ES get a much cheaper + but keep the x as they are.

That way you can actually get a nice + weapon like the current daggers we have now for a relatively cheap NW, but need some nice NW to get them to a high x.

Giving people a choice.

Otherwise, remove any weapon between a dagger (needed when you start) and the Top 6 weapons as they would be just useless.

A new player can just rent one after the first hour of play until he gets enough money to buy his/her own. Which typically can be less than 1 week.

BHT October 27 2009 6:01 PM EDT

Yes I agree, there are way to many useless items that can actually hurt new players more then help them.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 27 2009 6:02 PM EDT

:D

More people joining the Tulwar crusade! ;)

Wraithlin October 27 2009 6:48 PM EDT

What if you just had different item levels stack thier NW at a different percentage to your minion power. For instance keep the Big six rares as they are and any other items of that quality. The semi-rares would only add say 85% of thier NW to your power and have the commons give 70%.

So if you had two identical teams except one had a vorpal with NW 7 mil and the other had a Katana with NW 7 mil, they wouldn't be the same power level. The Katana team would have 15% less power for his Katana, which is far anyways because it's doing less damage.

If this is already being done, feel free to ignore this post.

Wraithlin October 27 2009 6:49 PM EDT

btw far = fair in my posts

Flamey October 27 2009 7:03 PM EDT

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 27 2009 7:09 PM EDT

I've always said that Weapons need a PR weight, just like armour. ;)

There's no reason for a 100 Million NW Tulwar to add the same PR as a 100 Million Morg.

When the Morg would be much more powerful, by far...
