It's a bus journey..! (in Contests)

I will offer $500k and the choice of any item on Admin_Beee to the first 5 people who get on, and then stay on, my bus.

You can ask to get on the bus as often as you want, but you can only ask once between my updates.
If you do get on my bus (I'll tell you on my update) then you must ask to stay on my bus by asking one more time. Only after you have got on, and then stayed on, will you qualify for a prize.

I'll periodically get off the bus just to grab some random stuff that will give you clues. If you're really struggling then I may even ask some of my friends to join me on the bus.

NB. Spoilers will be carped and disqualified from all my future forum contests :p

Didn't quite work out the way it should have and was open to too many lucky hits. My bad. However, you've got to be in it, to win it so to speak, so well done to all the participants and especially those who picked up a prize.
Next bus journey will be up to usual standard and a lot harder to "fluke".

I think the first part had something to do with the vowels in your name?

I thought the first part had something to do with music from Apple... (ipod iphone)

I think both of the words had to start with the same letter, which for a lot of people, was "i"

As I already mentioned the contest didn't quite work out the way I had intended as I left it too open to lucky hits. Mitt is correct that the second item had to start with the same letter as your first item - that was my first "mistake" :)
The contest is deliberately obtuse and the idea is to feed you clues the more frustrated you all become. I didn't get that far and you all had lucky hits to win. It was fair for everyone because you all had the same chance to be lucky so there's no problem with the contest and no one should complain :)

My items began with the letter "e" because I asked my daughter to pick a number between 1 and 15 and she chose 15.
Using #15 as a base I counted the letters on my main character Otto Palindrome.
There's only 14 characters in my characters name so I then started counting the next letters on the sidebar Active Character window. i.e. Equip, Train, Manage.
So, 14 characters in Otto Palindrome and the first character in the word "Equip" meant I stopped on the letter "E".
My items had to start with an "E".
Titan who was first on the bus has a character called "xxJS07" which has 6 characters in it. Carrying on to #15 using "Equip, Train ..." I stopped on the letter "i" from the word Train so his items had to start with an "i".

Simple as that really. My mistake was in allowing the second item to follow the same simple pattern, as users were able to simply guess what to bring next.

Out of curiosity, which character of mine did you use for that?

If I read him correctly, he used your first character, Alara United.

Darn, mine needed to start with I.

What letter did the first item have to have?

I guess we learn new things everyday. Today, I learned that G Beee must be high. :) I was off by a long shot, and there was no way I'd ever figure that out without painfully obvious hints.

This was the 5th time I've run the comp and granted it was a little more obtuse than the previous. I'd have given hints eventually but I guess it never got that far :/
