Hxbow Gets a Facelift (in Changelog)

Sorry this is a bit late everyone. All of your old and rusty Hxbows have gotten a shiny new upgrade.

They are now base 5 damage along with having the vorpal ability.

Not bad, does similar and a bit above damage as a SoD's main hit. Miss the splash damage of the sling though. But having another decent damage ranged without having to train archery can only be a good thing.

Oh and btw NS and co thanks for a changelog. Always welcome!

The to hit is worse, but that vorpal ability is pretty nifty, and specialization is what CB is all about.

When would the Hxbow be better than a SoD?

Possibly vs a heavy tank without a tattoo. And those are as rare as the dodo.

.. in the end "it's all about the changes and adapting to them" I heard from quite some players ;)

Against teams with high AC minions that don't also use PL?

Against teams with high AC minions that use PL but the user doesn't feel the same way as you and would prefer vorpal over splash.

I personally do not see why people would want to PL to their high AC minion. I would think you would want to PL away from it to keep it alive even longer and continue taking less damage.

I'm really only focusing on PL because that seems to be your whole defense that splash > vorpal.

I will say that typically following some trial run after a change tweaks are usually made. Maybe a damage boost or increased vorpal will be required to make it worth using if it is not as is. Possibly having it target highest AC just to make things interest. We'll have to see.

Now I will say, the idea of a ranged weapon that attacks the back minion was nice too. Maybe in the future? The Compound Bow could use a boost. There was a time it was actually the most popular bow in CB.

I agree with Josh in that having it target highest AC Minion would solidify the niche this ranged weapon would fill. Again I think that just having an item upgraded is totally awesome and I want to thank NS and everyone who worked on this project!

If it is better vs your character Titan, it certain would be worse vs 10 others.

1 vs 10? No contest.

Sort of like the ages old AG vs NSC debate. The AG may help vs a couple characters, but overall, overwhelmingly, the NSC is better for overall play.

I agree completely, it's a very niche weapon. It might be good for AA when I get a higher RoS; but he'd probably still beat me anyway.

Don't worry about HXBows in auctions, they show base 4, they are actually 5, the auction system.. for some reason, stores the name in a different place then the original table. But don't worry it is the correct base. :)

I forgot to run the weapons rescale that gives you cash back because of the change. So, I just ran it.

Slightly increased the base to-hit of the hxbow so that it is no longer the same as the SOD.

About the rescale of the weapon that gives back money, why does it affect tourney characters?

It affects all characters that are holding on to one.
