Are you whining about us whining, novice? rofl
Yes
I'd like to see a few more people in on a tournament where the part of the prize sells to the store for 20m CB.
i would and have suggested making the participation prize participation based rather than performance based...that should be a good start!

If you're not performing, you're not truly p[articipating ~_^
Yeah. sucks there's 20+ million to the first place but then second place gets nothing. I liked the last tourney prize awards :), where one - five got a pretty decent prize.

December 27 2009 4:29 PM EST
I'll also give it a try. I was close last tourney :)
I will not be joining... Titan is my friend.
boooooo friendship!!!
GO WINNING!
If you're not performing, you're not truly p[articipating ~_^
it is much more fun to have both more performers and participants though and if we can encourage more to participate then over time they will become better. if we cannot get them to try though then they will never move up to the next level.
we have about two hundred active players and in the last tournament a total of ten prizes were handed out including six for participation. there was a few more though that burned at least 50 percent of the top ba and i believe that is a better benchmark for participation.
if it were truly a participation bonus i believe it would also encourage people to not retire their characters once they are out of the running. ; )

The target is pretty tough. My mageseeker is the second biggest in the game (over 200 mill NW), with 7 mill strength behind it and 9 mill HP. I almost lose. Nice big GA.
A decent DM might do the trick in making that right, but then the other stats will be compromised.
Alatar Gloves does mean AMF might be more useful...

Right, and I would like to come out now and confess that I used a lesser tattoo for a while on my tourney fighter. I'm kind of rusty on the whole tournament thing, and the rules kind of slipped my mind. I was politely notified by another player that I was in violation of the rules, so I immediately sold it back to the store where I got it.
Disqualify me as you will, but I'd like to play around with a low-level strat for a while, so if it's possible just rename the team to indicate disqualification so I can use it as a test team until the tourney ends. I'll still use it, I just won't be competing with it (and I wouldn't have won anyway).

The target is pretty tough. My mageseeker is the second biggest in the game (over 200 mill NW), with 7 mill strength behind it and 9 mill HP. I almost lose. Nice big GA.
On the other hand, my ELB archer (which has a huge DM) makes pretty short work of it in the minimum possible time (5 rounds for 5 minions).
DM+SoD will probably also do the trick quite nicely (probably even better), I assume.
Just tested out the Target with my regular char FGoD. I have the same results as sickone, I also happen to have a pretty decent DM. Hope the Info helps you T-Heads bouncing off this Titan :-)
QBRanger
December 28 2009 4:00 PM EST
Then again, both ELB users are using a TOA with its bonus to PTH, str and (not needed) dexterity.
This allows one to put a lot more xp into DM and HP.
T characters will not have that luxury.
QBJohnnywas
December 28 2009 4:03 PM EST
That was my thoughts Ranger, on the surface, an archer strat seems ideal, but that does need a lot of xp and NW to compensate without a ToA.

Also, participation based on BA spent as opposed to MPR isn't a half-bad idea.
Also, I'll offer free unretiring for those with 5 parties who don't want to retire one to enter. Retire one, enter, and I'll unretire for free at the end of the tournament.

Most likely due to novice increasing the bonus for the last part of the tourney.
I think Hatch will be able to beat it in 5-7 days at the rate he is beating characters up.

at least one or two of them woulda won. If i recall correctly, the bonus was doubled with like 4-5 days left, and the first winner got it the day after the bonus was doubled. If one person could've done it in the time given, then everybody could have. Granted, all 5 prizes wouldn't have been given out last tourney, but hey, "go big or go home", right?
My money is on Hatch!
My actual money is too, but I'm still seeing you as slightly ahead of me :P We've been neck and neck the whole way through though you got a slightly better start on things. It's definitely an interesting run to say the least ^_^

We'll use a BA usage participation prize in this tourney, so you can probably still get enough BA in to get a prize if you aren't already there! Just need at least 65% of the BA that the top MPR character has used. (Participation prize was also doubled, see wiki)
If anyone else can defeat the character by 12:00 Noon tomorrow, they will earn 1m!

I put all my rares into auctions.
Sickone
January 21 2010 1:03 PM EST
I see your auctions have a 2 day duration...
... I wonder what will happen to them when the tournament is over in 1 day :)
That being said, I doubt I have any chance of beating the target in the next 24h with the strategy I am using now (which, to be honest, was tailored to beat other tournament members, and it did that very good, hehe)... so I'll be throwing my rare gear into auctions very soon too.
Just waiting for an answer first about what happens to an auction when the character issuing it force-retires with the tournament, just so I know if I can select a long duration to give everybody a fair chance, or if I have to adjust duration down to under 23h.
QBRanger

The items stay in auctions.
AdminShade
January 21 2010 1:09 PM EST
When placing items in auction with your Tournament character, the items will stay in auctions for their duration, even if the character is retired.
The same applies to rental items and loaned items when we ban a cheater (most of the times)

QBRanger
January 21 2010 1:34 PM EST
Yes,
The biggest problem I saw looking at BP was the huge GA and AS.
The only way to get such a huge DM to dispel them was to use my first minion for most of the DM.
Once I was able to obtain a MgS in auctions as well as an EH, and hire my first minion, the rest was just waiting to get enough levels to have strength to use an ELB.
I doubt using only DD, it would be possible to beat BP even in 6 weeks of playing.
