Value of drops you received, after 3 weeks (in General)

QBRanger June 23 2009 11:04 AM EDT

Since drops have different values, I would ask everyone, include those who have gotten 0, to post the value of the drop they have.

If you are unsure of the value, please look at past auctions and estimate the value.

Please, try to keep conversation in other threads and let this be a way we can see statistically how people are doing and the spread of values.

I will start:

If anyone here is not using all their BA and/or not buying BA most everyday, please let me know.

NooneKnows June 23 2009 7:55 PM EDT

nothing here

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 23 2009 7:56 PM EDT

I am using about 80-90% of my available BA refreshed and bought

QBRanger June 23 2009 8:13 PM EDT

26/56 got nothing so far
9/55 got between 1 and 100k
9/55 got between 100k and 1M
12/55 received 1M or more worth of items

62.5% of all people won less than 100k worth of items
21.4% of all people won more than 1M worth of items topped by 5M

I am not making an inferences but am just posting the statistics through the first 3 weeks of this change.

As per the number of battles fought by these 56 people, I will have to make some assumptions.

1) Average BA regeneration rate is 7 per.
2) 90% of all battles fought, with all buying BA

7 x 3 = 21 BA per hour x 24 hour = 504 BA + 168 bought BA = 670 BA per person per day.

670 x 20 days x 56 people = 750,000 battles among these people.

Large enough sample size? By statistics, yes. 750k is a huge sample size.

Does it include all people? No, but that is what statistics do, infer based upon information given. Given the Central Limit Theorem, I believe we have enough information.

Enjoy the stats!!!

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 23 2009 8:31 PM EDT

did anyone start tracking liquid and net assets after the change?

there are web sites that will tell you what sample size you need for a given population, unfortunately for a population as small as ours you really need a sample size almost the same.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 23 2009 8:34 PM EDT

sample size calculator:

http://www.surveysystem.com/sscalc.htm

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 23 2009 8:38 PM EDT

just to head off confusion:

"670 x 20 days x 56 people = 750,000 battles among these people.

Large enough sample size? By statistics, yes. 750k is a huge sample size."

you aren't going for statistics on percentages of drops per battle using the stats you stated.

you are going for net worth given to users. our population for users is approximately 250, therefore your sample size is the 56 users.

Sickone June 23 2009 8:47 PM EDT

56 out of 250 is a statistically significant sample even if you would consider consistent BA use over all accounts... but since at least 100 people barely use up any BA at all fighting, those 56 people that posted (and are active enough to care) most likely account for roughly half of the BA spent on fighting (estimated 750k out of roughly 1.5 mil battles).

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 23 2009 8:55 PM EDT

"but since at least 100 people barely use up any BA at all fighting"

where does that stat come from?

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 23 2009 8:55 PM EDT

Maybe after a player has won 50 items you can work out how much a player would gain or lose from this new change.

IMO there has not been enough items won to compare to
which means there is not enough battles fought.

So really there is not enough data to base any $ value lost or gained yet.

As always with averages the more data collected= More accuracy.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 23 2009 8:58 PM EDT

i still think it is much better to track net assets along with liquid assets and compare that to it's growth before the change. wouldn't that tell us unequivocally whether the change results in a gain or loss opposed to before?

of course if that was the intention all along then we are just proving how effective jon's change is?

[RX3]Cotillion June 23 2009 9:23 PM EDT

$000.00

I fight at least 80% of my BA per day without purchasing extra. Trying to save up for a NCB.

{Wookie}-Jir.Vr- June 23 2009 9:32 PM EDT

Zero...

QBRanger June 23 2009 9:47 PM EDT

And here is another stat:

51 items have dropped for 56 players over the first 20 days.

Average about 1 item per player per 20 days.

Or using my battles fought guestimate, we have 51 items in about 750,000 battles.

About 1 drop per 14k battles.

Just a rough, very very rough estimate of things.

77k battles fought past 24 hours today for the record = about 5.5 drops a day.

No inferences, just the statistics.

Jon may be laughing at my guestimate. But it was fun to try.

QBRanger June 23 2009 9:58 PM EDT

"56 out of 250 is a statistically significant sample even if you would consider consistent BA use over all accounts... but since at least 100 people barely use up any BA at all fighting, those 56 people that posted..."

I came to almost the exact same conclusion as Sickone in another thread.

But I agree with his conclusions:

People who forge, just pop in like Hatch, or choose not to fight like GL, presumably account for about 1/4 to 1/3 of people in CB.

Now before you get frazzled, it is only a rough estimate based upon a couple factors.

1) All the people I know and discuss things with on cb. About 1 in 7 do not fight anymore.

2) At least 10 forgers have done over 7M, so I assumed they were full time forgers. Ten is however, likely lower than the true number.

So I figured about 150 or so actually fight. Perhaps less, perhaps a bit more.

But 56 out of 150ish is a very high sample size. About 1/3 of all players.

I will stand by my statistics as righteous for this discussion.

However, I will not make many inferences about their significance.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 23 2009 10:23 PM EDT

i guess no one is tracking item nw or liquid assets since the change?

QBRanger June 23 2009 10:38 PM EDT

I am quite sure Jon is to see if 20% is too high an amount.

Newlin [SeeD] June 24 2009 12:07 AM EDT

Sickone June 24 2009 12:44 AM EDT

" "but since at least 100 people barely use up any BA at all fighting"
where does that stat come from? "

http://www.carnageblender.com/directory/browse-recent.tcl

15 minutes is the minimum for one login session so there's a MAXIMUM of 160 BA burned per 15 minutes listed there (except the odd NCB preparation and initial discharge)

There's 35 people on each page.

1st place is Ranger, with 25h 15m, or a maximum of 101 logins in the last 7 days
5th place, {CB1}Zenai U'Lanya with his hardcore NCB run, with 18 h 15m, or a max of 73 logins in the last 7 days

1st page ends with 9h 45m (or max 39 logins in the last 7 days)
2nd page ends with 7h 15m (or max 29 logins in the last 7 days)
That's about the number of REALLY active players, around 70

3rd page ends with 5h 00m (or max 20 logins in the last 7 days)
Some of these people couldn't possibly burn all their BA

4th page ends with 3h 00m (or max 12 logins in the last 7 days)
These people already miss most of their BA - and that's just 140 out of 250+ players that logged in in the past 7 days

And that's where the "at least 100 people barely use any BA at all".

Sickone June 24 2009 12:48 AM EDT

By the way, I'm #25 on that list (on the first page), and I know for a fact I *AM* missing some BA on a daily basis due to sleep and other issues.

Last Gasp June 24 2009 1:16 AM EDT

Mikel [Bring it] June 24 2009 8:05 AM EDT

"That can't be accurate. I leave CB running all day long at work. That's a 40-hour work week. I'm so productive. "

Yep, definitely not accurate for BA spending. I am on page 7, and I hardly miss any BA.

I am logged in all the time at home and I log in once a day at work during the day to spend a batch of BA so that I don't have to rush to get home and when I log in at work it rarely ever kicks me out at home. So in that 7 day period, you might find that I log in a total of 6-8 times per week.

QBRanger June 24 2009 9:34 AM EDT

I log in and out during work. Likely accounting for my numbers.

Regardless of this some things are known:

We are getting about 1 drop per 20 days on average. Not one great drop, just one drop. Whether it be a lesser tattoo or spellboosters.

All this fun for 20% less money rewards.

Rewards that have forced people to change their strategy from tank to mage.

Rewards that are making it hard for non-usd spenders to buy BA everyday.

All for that 1 in 20 day "WOW" factor.

If the purpose of the change was to lower the cash in CB, fine.

If the change was to be a zero sum event, give me my money back. So I can choose what rares to buy and when to boost my items. So I do not have to try to sell these mostly useless drops I get.

IMO, more people will leave CB due to less real money on their character than will stay due to this random "wow" factor.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 24 2009 9:42 AM EDT

"And that's where the "at least 100 people barely use any BA at all"."

that shows jonathan as more active than me! i am actually on one of the last pages and i rarely miss any ba. jon uses very little ba and he's about halfway. ; )

QBRanger June 24 2009 10:50 AM EDT

I agree with you there Dude.

Using those statistics to determine how many people use BA is incomplete.

However, using other methods described earlier in this thread, one can guess to a reasonable theory the number of true fighters in CB.

And again, I raise the point, If characters aren't meant to be a long term commitment and are meant to be replaced, doesn't the -20% hit to rewards go against that idea?

It seems like I won't ever be able to raise enough money to run a NCB.

TrueDevil [AAA] June 25 2009 11:15 AM EDT

I've had so far a Shield Of Capacity and a lesser EF.

The SoC replaced the BoM on my char, and I disenchanted the BoM to boost the SoC, so I could use it. Which means at that point I lost a couple of mill. Then I sold the BoM for 2 mill. But as I lost 2 mill disenchanting I'm back to zero cash.

And the Lesser I sold to the store for it's basic price which was about $500.

A grand total of $500 then or thereabouts.

Still love the change though.

QBRanger June 26 2009 10:56 AM EDT

Actually JW, your value of drops is about 1.05M based upon the value of the SoC.

Does not matter if your using it, it still has some value in CB.

AdminShade June 26 2009 10:59 AM EDT

A repost of a post above.

After 20 days:

26/56 got nothing so far
9/55 got between 1 and 100k
9/55 got between 100k and 1M
12/55 received 1M or more worth of items

And here is another stat:

51 items have dropped for 56 players over the first 20 days.

Average about 1 item per player per 20 days.

Or using my battles fought guestimate, we have 51 items in about 750,000 battles.

About 1 drop per 14k battles.

Just a rough, very very rough estimate of things.

77k battles fought past 24 hours today for the record = about 5.5 drops a day.

No inferences, just the statistics.

Jon may be laughing at my guestimate. But it was fun to try.
