Interesting. You know, there's some really old code that uses the abbreviation "bf" instead of "cb" where I would think the latter would be more appropriate. I assumed that when CB was in the beta stage, it was called Battle Fight or something silly. Hmm...........

Battle faries was made buy the same guy/s who did dragon bane also I played bf long time ago then dragon bane they are all extremely similar. I know bf and db shared code. I know at one point the db code was stolen when db got hacked.

What were those games like? Were they text-heavy like this game is?

laz [Brew Crew Forging Service] November 19 2012 5:43 AM EST

They were identical in every way. Battle fairies was very basic version. Could hire up to 3 fairies and fight other players and equip armor and weapons. Could win lose or draw up to 50 rounds. Dragon bans same 3 "minions" you could hire. Dragon bane you could be a supporter and get a gold membership that gave you a favorites list and battles up to 100 rounds I think. Had clans etc. This game just takes the next step in evolution.

Do you know who created the game?

Wow, I had pretty much forgotten Battle Faeries had existed. Welcome to CB.

Battlefaeries comes up on our boards every once in a blue moon :)

It was developed by a then start-up web games company called M83.net in Scotland ~2001 and had 18,000 people worldwide playing online. Battlefaeries Turbo (BFT) was supposed to come online with a view to supporting 100k users but never got off the ground for some reason.

I played it until it died way back in the day before CB was born. Some other users played it too although other than Truc I can't remember who.

I always liked the idea of being able to "bench" your faeries on BF and asked Jon for this feature on many threads over the years. He always had a hundred very valid reasons why not to introduce it to CB and I stopped asking after a while :)

This thread is closed to new posts. However, you are welcome to reference it from a new thread; link this with the html <a href="/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=003Jzx">Hi</a>
